Could you provide an impression of the Maior sound vs the Fostex and NAD variants please?

thanks
I dont like telling or reading vague impressions. In short, it is a kapton with a vivid and still easy treble (Phonitor3 is the rig). Believe me, 'coz I own 4 pairs of the kapton 18. My Vzero T50 (single headband) is also in short of good treble compared to the maior.

These are extremely rare, but I am ready to lend them to such a senior member of this thread for a short listen. pm me if you are interested.

Excellent, thank you for the brief impression.

Ericj's photo shows them to look pretty identical to the Kapton NAD and Fostex internally.
Are the Maior earpads identical (hard thin vinyl) to the NAD and Fostex T50v0?

All else equal, i can only imagine it was a custom diaphragm tension tuning difference, as they are all made by Foster Japan. But congrats on the rare find!

So far the only other in the T50 style drive range that I have heard retain both deep bass and good treble are certain examples of the Aiwa HP-500, which has a looser diaphragm tension, but is Mylar. That said the only remaining variant left for me to hear in this driver range is the dual headband T50v1 and the Maior.

The same thin vinyl here. I agree with your opinion regarding the Aiwa deep bass, it is just that up until now I have considered the spacious earcup to be responsible for that. Or at least i did not know about the looser tensioned diaphragm.

Cant decide if these are sf17 clones or not. They have got the same fork structure with that special inner wire spring as all of the clones. But none of the others feature onboard sound level control. I am confused. Any ideas? Thanks
Almost certainly dynamic.
"High Velocity" has always been associated with dynamics from what I've seen.
