But the resistor value is 8ohms, which is pretty standard. I'm not convinced that headphones will come across the bit with the 100ohm resistor. The value should affect the sound somewhat, though I'm sure you wouldn't know unless you were looking for it specifically. Sort of like the "low" and "high" impedance settings on those chunky cabled electret headphones of old.
If I remember correctly, the standard used to be around 100 ohms for older amps, instead of the 8 ohms of today? Could be wrong about that. I imagine certain pairs wouldn't sound exactly right on a modern system. Dt48 comes to mind.

Those planars look like they have very thick traces, I wonder if that's bad manufacturing?
The old standard was 120 ohms, close enough. :p

i don't know. i really don't know how it works, that's why i ask. i just looked at those adapter boxes and they all have different resistor values, so which one work best? that's something i'm still confuse

i haven't live long enough to experience the old days of audio but from reading it. it felt little bit dejavu, many companies trying to get into planar markets, and then suddenly it just stop. would it be the case for current days?

That frequency response looks brutal... it's basically 'flat-earth society' until it hits 7-8kHz... o__0

Does look like it's another Fostex T50 'serpentine' rip off, doesn't it.

New project! Received a Yamaha hp-1 today. Christmas break project in the works. I got it from Kijij for 78 Canadian dollars shipped. That is about a 1000 us. Are modifications needed? It seems a little fragile so I do not want to open it up too many times.

I found these mods. I find the second one both easier to understand and seemingly easier to complete. I plan on using Mr. Clean eraser pads for the foam insert. Would a tin foil disk help? Thanks in advance for any advice at all.
peace
