I had not heard of the BTG Audio cables before. What kind of difference in sound do they have?

Have you had a chance to try the new tips without the new cable to isolate where the brightness comes in?

I am using the stock cable with the UE900 tips and get a nice even(ish) response, with just a touch of warmth, just the way I like it.

The BTG Starlight cable is SPC, so it improves with a touch more detail/layering, and spaciousness (if you believe in that sort of thing...

). It's a nice reasonably priced cable which kicks things up a notch, IMO.

I am pretty sure it's the tips that introduce the slight bit of brightness, as it wasn't there with the Ortofons & BTG cable. I'm more than willing to keep listening though because of the noticeable improvement in space and openness the tips offer.

You said it, not me. This thread is more like the official Noble Social Club than anything else. But I kinda like it that way. Although I pity the person reading through it trying to cull useful information!

I've roam around Head-fi for a while now as I'm sure most here have been doing much longer than me. One thing I notice from reading extensively in certain threads, the type of interactions, topic of discussions, more importantly, the moods of those participate in the discussion of each product are very different. I suppose it reflect the character of the owner of those units. Some brand gather heated arguments and everyone is so focus on minute details rather than music itself.

Here, it seems everyone is quite relax and enjoying what these instruments was designed for - give us joy of music. I think its great how discussions goes here. Imagine if we don't discuss anything else, we'll be on page 50. Its clever that Noble get away from the technical mumbo jumbo and create great stuff and let our ears be the judge. Looking at the all the great review they got, they proved their point.

When someone asked something, there's always someone to answer so no one is missing out as far as I see.

Nothing wrong with Noble Social Club! :)

So it seems my cable with Noble 4 is starting to fail on left channel. Anyone knows if cable from JHAudio and Lear(only two I have left at home) use same positions of pin as Noble?

We use the two pin industry standard.....   it is a safe assumption that the JH cable or the Lear would fit.  Proceed with caution, if u find you are having to use a lot of force to insert the cable, then please contact Brannan.

Is there a standard ? Even if they are 2 pins the pin sizes differ with different cables. Also the distance between two pins is different.

They're supposed to be standard size, though I'm sure occasionally you run into one that didn't exactly make spec. Only Fitear uses a 2 pin that uses larger pins similar to the Senn HDxxx headphone connector pins.

DIY Pin dia 0.69mm  Gap 1.20mm
UE Pin dia 0.74mm Gap 1.04mm
Westone Pin dia 0.77mm Gap 1.08mm

I stand corrected.  My Noble cables currently use UE connectors, though I thought they were supposed to be the same as the old Westone 2 pins.

actually it was the UE IEM products (TF10 etc etc) with a measurement of .74, the CIEMs were .78

what they use now, I am not sure.

Is there an industry standard.....  ?

considering at one point in time there was essentially only one cable mfg that supplied the CIEM industry, pretty much all companies used a standard size. (standard being set by the supplier, which supplied both cables and sockets)

Fit Ear (Japan) has historically used their own sizes, that appear to be the same size used for "body worn" hearing aids. Etymotic Research also used a two pin structure that was unique to ER.

Other than those two companies, most every other company in the industry, that has come, gone and have remained use a two pin cable/socket combination that is interchangeable among companies.

JH Audio, Westone, FutureSonics, InEarz, Alien Ears, FreQ, FrogBeats,GorillaEars, Drum Ears, Dream Ears and more, all used interchangeable cables.

In fact there have been times when CIEM manufactures buy cables from each other, as their supplies may have ran unexpectantly low.

That being said, the number of cable suppliers for this industry has grown, and with that, so has the tolerances in sizes.....

Cheers,
