Not to mention H8P has THE best bass I have ever heard from a CIEM :)

You should give the NT6 Pro a try if you want insane bass

Damn I sent my impressions for SE-5 and now these H8Pro and their bass...

Ok so here I come: I listen to modern music.
Lot of electronic: house, deep house, techno... from Louie Vega to Paul Kalkebrenner.
Modern punk and rock: Blink, Linkin Park...
Soundtracks: Hans Zimmer & co
Some fusion jazz and bar compilations: St Germain, Hotel Costes
And radio hits.

I like my bass to be fat and very tactile. I like when it literally purrs, like a big fat cat.

So... which one to get (first

) ?

Here is one of my favorite tracks to test sub-bass rumble. At 2:15 there is an insane sound pressure (it is not even a note). Can SE-5 and H8P reproduce this almost deafening feeling?

Having heard of NT6 and based on the impressions/reviews of NT6 p, I know NT6 p has super bass.

But IMO H8P's bass can only be produced from silicone shell. That kind of control, depth and impact. It actually has a fairly neutral bass quantity. But it's so believable.

I have other bass monsters like EM32, JH16, K10. But none of them can do bass like H8P to my ears.

If that's what you after.

I would say try: Fit ear 335 > EM32 > Roxanne > K10 > JH16, or even the MG6 pro before you try SE5 or H8P.

Also you should know bass is not everything ;)

The track reminds me a batman game I played before! I would say H8P can make you feel more of that dark, high pressure type of atmosphere. But still don't expect it to sound like a big fat cat.. because it's still super controlled..

I actually demoed all but EM32 and the bass was always too present. Merlin have huge diffuse bass but it's mainly sub, so they don't sound boomy. On the other side LCD2 + ALO international is too bass light for me (the amp may be be too weak.)

Can SE-5 and H8P really deliver deep, massive sub bass when called for? I remember you called the SE-5 a bass monster.

How well do they do with movies?

Hmm.. I don't remember saying that.

SE5's has neutral bass with great sub bass presence. It really rumbles very good when called for.

IMO I even think SE5 presents subass a little more than mid and upper bass. But you know it's not all about the bass. There is a lot of other things for you to like a CIEM.

I was going to ask you about Noble K10 then I realized you made that chart.
biggrin.gif
I just realize the usefulness of the chart.  The chart will answer any questions people may have of the differences if the sigs.  I really like the chart since all the aspects are quantified which clearly define your impressions than some of the reviews that I come across as being pretty much useless with vague discriptions.

Maybe you should have your own impressions thread with your chart on the first page.  You have plenty of CIEMs on your hand to provide your impressions to people that need comparison information.

Thank you buddy ;) Actually I have been told by some people chart is nothing but a bunch of useless numbers, it doesn't define any sound at all, which I agree to some extent (because it really doesn't give a clear description of sound signature). But this is probably the most effectively way I can describe a CIEM without going into details. Actually I should put in way more columns than I currently have, but I think it will only confuse people more.

I was just a guy who loves CIEMs and blessed by AJ's help;) There is no need for another thread. The more CIEMs I have, the less I feel I know, and the more professional/accurate I found AJ's review is, the less confident I am to write reviews. I found some of my post in this thread before were completely idiotic. lol

An "interesting" note, I came to this thread with only JH16 PRO on my hand.

I have experienced bass being dependent on source if the CIEM's bass does scale.  Some sources seem to push out bass which some will refer to bass sounding controlled or tight, but will lack definition.  I got rid of the C5D for this reason.  With my NT6, the most realistic bass I've heard is out of my DAC2 which pushes out the dynamics like nothing I've heard before. Even stage is source dependent from what I've experienced with the NT6.  DAC2 pushes out the stage to a scale where the imaging gets closer to what you experience with cans.  I didn't notice this until recently, but hip hop tracks do seem to sound great with transparent gear.  I really enjoy hip hop with DAC2 and AK240.  Hip hop seems to scale with a source of good imaging, dynamics, and stage.
