Hey guys, I was wondering how will a Meier Aria, which i've recentley come across an oppurtunity to purchase, pair with my MS-2's (which BTW are prfectley fine after my little accident- thanks Henmyr!). Are they (Meier amps in general) suited to drive well low gain, high current phones such Grado/Alessandro?

Got a pair of MS2i's in the mail yesturday! I must say, after not owning these cans for a year... they sound so amazing. Better than I ever remember. I think the upgrade to a Melos is a major player there. They sound great though.

And, even a year later, they are still uncomfortable as hell :p

In my limited experience, they handle them pretty well. I've not driven an MS2 with an Aria, but way back when I had a headfive and SR225 and it was a pretty solid combination.

Thread revival time! I received my pair yesterday and it was love at first sight. Literally, these are some beautiful headphones. They look better in person than they do in the pictures. I even got a few comments from some co-workers when I took them out of the box. I've admitted in the past that I'm not a Grado person. Heck, I'm wasn't a huge fan of the RS-2 I listened to at a mini meet last year, but I remember listening to a MS-1 at my first meet over a year ago and I really liked them. I guess that's why when I saw a good deal on a MS2i on the FS forum I pounced on it, even when I really couldn't afford to.

At least for now I consider the money very well spent. They do Tool and Porcupine Tree like I've never heard before, which makes me a very happy camper. Consider me a member of Team Alessandro.

I just recently returned to the Grado sound ala Alessandro. I've had my MS2 for about 3 or 4 weeks now and just love them. I've been listening with the stock bowls and just picked up a pair of flats from TTVJ. WOW! The flats give a more intimate presentation and the bass is heightened with more impact. It's like having 2 different headphones.

No, the comfy pads are the ones that come stock on the SR60. The flats are sold by TTVJ for $35 here....Grado Flat Pads - $35.00 : TTVJ, Todd The Vinyl Junkie

Beefy, that was a great and well-timed reply, given your username!

As for the MS-2i's, I generally like the sound a lot, but still have the Grado comfort issue. I generally listen for shorter terms only.

I have a set of C-Pads being made by Larry, that may be the saving grace for me....otherwise, they may go FS.

I've tried many a pad on other Grado phones, none are quite there for me, even after washing, fitting/modding (Senn pads), etc. I had tried some C-pads on an HP-2 a while ago, I do remember them being much easier on my ears. We'll see what it does for the sound.

That's why I'm selling mine.

I thought my ears would toughen up after repeated uses, but didn't happen. I can only listen for a max of 30 minutes at a time now with either the bowls or TTVJ flats. I considered the C pads from Headphile, but they're a bit expensive for me. I wonder how many more people would be Grado fans if they weren't so uncomfortable...

hd650 is disappointing me.
now i am thinking about buying a pair of ms2 (which means i'm gonna buy it

).
however, the grado comfort issue is a BIG problem for me. i used to have sr325i but i sold it after using it for a month or two. the comfort issue was the main reason.
whats the best way to improve the comfort?

also, is alessandro website the only place where i can buy ms2?

Last time I checked, there was a used one on the FS boards, if you don't mind going used.
