Seems like there are quite a few people looking for an M1060 replacement cable that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. My Shure HPASCA2 cable arrived recently, so I thought I'd share some impressions.
Shure HPASCA2 replacement for SRH1440 and 1840, ~$25
The cable is 6.9' long, which is pretty much ideal for me.
The mmcx connectors fit firmly and securely in the M1060
The connectors are color coded (yay)
Terminates with 1/8" threaded but does not come with 1/8 --> 1/4 adapter (my threaded AT and Beyer adapters work fine, though).
The cable itself has a rubbery, springy, slimy feel that's not great.
Sound: it's a cable. I cannot tell any difference between the Shure cable and the stock cable.
So, an "A" for functionality. A "C" for cable feel. Overall, a solid "B" -- does the job.
