Is anyone happy with just one headphone?

Not me. I get a headphone splitter, put a balanced armature IEM in my right ear, and a dynamic driver IEM in my left ear; while I put an open full sized headphone on my head to give a nice background soundstage effect.

I did that once, put my westones in and then my old 280's over the top. Sounded like crap but at least I couldn't hear the wife's MTV

I really only use my AH-D7000. Life is easy once you get used to one pair.

After finding this site I bought a pair of DT 1350s that I love and will probably never get rid of but I do see myself buying a higher end set of full size cans for around the house in the distant future.  I get sucked into hobbies though, for 99% of the population one nice set is probably enough.

Kind of.  I was stuck in the budget rut for a while for IEMs.  I was moving from soundmagic, meelecs, ADDIEMs, etc.  Then I came across a good deal for the TF10s and jumped on it.  I know it's not as good as a lot of IEMs, but it is still high end and can compete, and I know I'll never find something with as good of value.

I'm hoping to find an amazing deal on a great set of cans soon.  Otherwise I'll find myself starting with the Sony mdr-v6 and moving up slowly...

Although I am fortunate to have multiple headphones, if I were starting out again and could keep only one it would have to be the Grado SR 225i.  Unfortunately the "hobby" mentality takes hold and upsets the very best of common sense.

I do kinda miss those. Glad to hear you're enjoying them!!

Right now I'm stuck on the LCD-2's. I own many headphones, but those are the only ones I pick up. Once I figured out the front end, they have become the only headphone I crave.

I was having a hard time choosing between the Pro 700 MK2 or the Aiaiai TMA 1.. ended up choosing the TMA 1s and now im kinda bummed after reading this thread http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/553735/audio-technica-ath-pro700mk2-review-take-two-subwoofers-straight-to-the-head considering i mostly to Hip Hop and would have preferred a pair of headphones that excel with bass.

Im thinking of grabbing the Pro 700 MK2 on my next paycheck

Edit: Is it worth having both TMA 1 and the 700 MK2s?

Well,
You have a figured out front end? You are going to have to let us all in on that. To tell you the truth I may not be so particular in headphones. The Denons are like a work truck. They just get the job done. I do wonder what LCD-2s sound like! I'm a long way away from any meets! If I was in town I would have made the last LA meet you guys had.

Yes, You can always get another pair of 7000s. I bet though you really don't miss them much! They did perform better with some changes made later in my system to remove the slugeshness and ghetto bass!

Wait and hear them, then think about other headphones.  The TMA-1 have remarkable bass.

I'll put it this way: some men arent happy with just one woman, so not being happy with one headphone isn't surprising. Probe deeper and you'll get different reasons. Others just want ot have as many as they can have of the good stuff and sell one as soon as some other can surpasses its performance, like serial monogamists who go for the hottest chicks they can get and dump then when they get fat; others just want many of the good stuff even if they don't have enough time for them all, like Sultans and some other politicians who share a similar psychological profile regardless of the cultural background they operate in, like Henry VIII and President Joseph Estrada (who, incidentally, look alike); others just want as many as possible, like philanderers that leave you scratching you head, "What? He cheated on her for that?!?!" like Arnold Schwarzeneggerand Tiger Woods; others want one for every imaginable situation, like one reference can, one easy to drive travel can, and one IEM for portable use or when on noisy transportation (ie, planes, trains, etc), like business travellers or seamen (pun intended) who get escorts or have mistresses or 'friends' in a number of cities.

By contrast some women I know tend to want the best and most trendy gadget, abuse it and then sell it once it's scratched up and a new one comes out. Kind of what their boyfriends looked like too when they got dumped or when they started going for another girl. So really, our gonads and our psychological history as a species plays into our buying decisions.
