So, is the warranty on these 1 year or 3 years.  Headroom lists it at 3 years and HeadDirect says it's 1 year.  Or is Headroom offering a longer warranty on their own?

even in the China's Hifiman website its written 三年质保 which means 3 Years Warranty..
and lots of website reviews says that its 3 Years Warranty...
 
but for sure ill ask Dr.Fang for that...

This is one of the best warranty being offered on the HiFiman products. Whats even more better than the warranty Fang will always work with you and the new price certainly makes this the best bang for buck headphone in a planar. I cant wait for my revisit and review pair will be sent next weeks. i am looking forward to hearing them with the new cable and pads.

Has anyone been able to confirm which retailers have the updated HE-500 (new cable & leather pads) in stock? I know pretty much everyone has lowered their price to the new MSRP, but it's not at all clear from their webpages which version they're selling.

Head direct has the new updated one but not moon audio. Not sure about headroom cos they didn't reply my email

I got my HE-500 from Headroom last week and it came with the new cable (looks like copper though, not silver) and leather pads in addition to the velour pads already on the phones.

I think that is an intermediate thing with the copper cable from the HE-6
