Head-Fi Basshead IEM thread (lists page 1)

Now that the Sony XB90EX is discontinued (and selling for ridiculous prices over MSRP), what is the best alternative to it in the $100-$150 range? I am looking for a basshead IEM in this price range, primarily I listen to "traditional" UK dubstep (Benga, Bar 9, Skream, etc.) so sub-bass extension is key. I have a Fiio e12, so I can amp, but I would like something that could be used unamped as well. Currently I have JVC HAFX102 and HAFX1X, which are not slouches, but I want MOAR BASS.

I've got these on my short list:
Audio-Technica ATH-CKS1000
RHA T10
JVC HA-FXZ200 (can anyone comment on the difference between this and the FXZ100?)

Those ATH are pretty bad
RHA wouldn't rec em
Not sure about the diff between JVC's

There is a Radius set that is pretty dope that we were passing around...the NHR21?

I got the JVC FX99X recently and they are pretty good with lots of bass

DW5 run in balanced mode can have aurisonics 2.0 level bass on EDM....but need upgrade balanced copper cable to bring this out
straight out of M3s, no amp needed, in high output mode. only 65$ at Penon Audio though and require a lot of tip rolling to get bass
seal good, large comply tips seem to work best....also require mucho burn in, 100 hours plus...

I think you should go for something from the JVC HAFX series again, i also had the fx3x and fx1x and tried a couple of other so called basshead IEM around 100--150$ nothing satisfied the basshead in me like the JVC.

The NHR21 might be discontinued and replaced with NHR31. They are the exact same even in sound but the 31 has removable cables. It’s worth it as with balanced cables the mids sound really good and the bass tightens

Can you please share the link for DW5? I can only find a Sidy DM5 earphone in their store.

I have now gotten about 50 pages into this thread, and now I understand why the RHA is not a true basshead IEM. I had read a lot of reviews elsewhere which made it seem that the T10 was a bass cannon, but I should have came here first, for some real basshead perspective! Just goes to show you need to take online reviews with a grain of salt. When you say the ATH are pretty bad, do you mean bad as in "bad ass" or as in "not good"?

I'm keeping the JVC's on my short list, especially after reading this on basshead.club: "Of all the IEMs I’ve heard, these deliver the cleanest deep sub-bass of anything I’ve listened to. It’s particularly enjoyable with electronic music (especially liquid stuff, like ZES Do It Again)."

Those BGVP DM5's are looking pretty intriguing...

What would be a great iem around €100 for a fan of hip hop (too short, wiz, tupac) to all sorts of metal?

Anyone here able to do a comparison between the jvc ha-fx11x(aka fx1x) and the ha-fx33x(aka fx3x)? Does the fx33x have bigger bass impact?

I am able to get these at a $28 and $50 respectively, but am unsure if it will be worth spending the extra double for the fx33x..

Thank you!

I have both bass is more or less similar but fx3x overall has a cleaner and more refined sound with better detailing.
