Head-Fi Basshead IEM thread (lists page 1)

I finally got a chance to hear some $1k+ IEMs! Now i'm regretting it because even my memories of the ASG 2.5 are nothing compared to the bass force I just heard.

Now I need to convince myself I shouldn't spend over a grand on a single pair of IEMs. Argh...

I had 6 driver iem, 8 driver iem, 12 driver iems and none of them could match the bass from the 90ex or 2.5. Also none of those $800 and up multi BA iems could beat the bass from the Harmony. 6 BA driver iems are designed for balance not bass.

The best bass (strictly on its own merits) that I've heard from any earphone has been provided by the Cardas A8. It's thunderous, potent, and yet not overpowering. It sounds like a 2.1 system in my ears!

Can you direct me to more details regarding the "tape" method of the EX800ST?

Thanks!

That vent.
Cover with black electric tape and you cannot even see it has anything on it (black on black) then put a pin prick in it with a thumb tack.

500mW max input with a 16mm driver tuned for audiophile and flat from 20Hz to 1khz. The tape forces the sub bass up but leaves early mids un touched (audibly anyway) and you have a wide stage and fantastic detail retrieval.
