Head-Fi Basshead IEM thread (lists page 1)

So. Cypher Labs has apparently dropped a new UIEM. Triple BA + 10mm DD hybrid. And there's a bass boost switch, 'no tools needed'.

Drooling just a little bit. Never heard their previous IEM so I don't really have a point of reference for the Cypher sound.

There actually is a thread on Head-Fi on these now:

I own and love the Fostex TH-X00, and my IEM's of choice are the Sony MDR-7550's and JVC FX-850's. The 850's are a bit brighter overall compared to the 7550's, but the 7550's beat them out in both soundstage and sub bass. With the vents taped, the 7550's destroy the 850's in the low end.

If I had to pick and keep only one IEM, it would be the 7550's without question. With the vents taped up and fed lots of power (fellow iDSD user) they are bass monsters. Pull the tape off the vents and the sounstage opens up and they balance out sounding fantastic overall. Best part is even without the tape they still hit nice and low, just not as much impact compared to taped.

I typically EQ in a bit more treble when I use the 7550. But I don't touch the high end when using the 850's. One other thing to note is the 850's are easier to drive as they are very sensitive.

Great compare. I love the 7550 and 850 and think they are different in the way you described.

Anyone compared PM4 with phantom sabre? I just recently got the sabre and like it. The bass is good, I would say refined basshead. The bass quality is superb though.

ye pm4 is all rounder better than sabre. I put balanced on pm4 it's even better

Hello guys! Could you please recommend in-ear phones with good sub-bass? Budget up to 400$. Song for example:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wrmKpDZxIk .
I have re400, they are not very good for sub-bass.

There are lists on the 1st page of this thread. There are a ton of IEM in that price range. Everything from the JVC Xtreme explosive to the AD01 to the Sony 7550. Lots of stuff. If you listen to mostly trance /House  and stuff don't drop too much cash and BA sets are not ideal IMO. Dynamic driver all the way

Phantom Sabre: [around 100$]

The Sabre is very similar in tuning. However the little brother sounds slightly less spacious and detailed compared to the Master. The Sabre has less emphasis on the lower-mids, making it appear more nimble. Treble sounds more linear on the Sabre, but has similar issues with peaks and dips. The PM4 sounds overall more U-Shaped, whereas the Sabre is more akin to the traditional V-Shape. The Master 4 is pretty much an all-around better Sabre.

Sony 7550 is pretty much useless on the street, on the go. And have wind noise. They are for a quiet place. I need something I can use on the street, on the go.
jvc xtreme xplosives ha-fx1x - I have them. They are not good for me, sound like mash.
I need something like RE 400, but with reach sub bass. Maybe not even mid bassy, but sub bussy.

If you do the tape mod on the 7550 you will not get any wind noise. I use mine at the gym, biking, walking the dog, etc. No problems what so ever.

If your still cautious about them, another rec would be radius 21

I use my ex1000 w/ same shell design on the go all the time.
idk the RE400 but the Future Sonics G10 might fit your bass needs & budget.
