Hi, I'm looking to freshen up my HD25, can anyone recommend some memory foam pads on Aliexpress or Amazon UK? Also what is the name for the red and black connections on the cable? Might look for a new cable too. I do have some MMXC cables for my IEMs, are there adaptors for this kind of connection or is it ill advised?
They look like the Yaxi pads. I had those for a while: extremely comfortable, looked good, perfect isolation, but they did affect the sound. The soundstage grew, but treble resolution and „attack“ were compromised. I went back to the stock pleather pads.
Connectors are proprietary connectors that work on the HD 25, HD 600/650/6XX and other headphones. You can buy cables from the same source as the pads. Great shop.
No there are no MMCX adapters for HD 25 pins and sounds like a bad idea to me.
Thought I’d resurrect this thread. I have been rocking a pair of the new Limited Edition HD25‘s and all I can say is that I’m kicking myself for not finding out about these years ago!
I’m coming from 3 Shure IEM’s, 3 pairs of Grados, 1 Alessandro MS-1 and a pair of Shure SRH 1540’s. The HD25’s are definitely the most fun headphones I’ve heard in my life! They’re all original now, but I may do a cable swap down the road. We’ll see.

These pads remind me of my Type-B Yaxi Pads that I have recently purchased to fit my older HD25-1 II headphones. These Type-B Yaxi pads made of a combination of synthetic leather and nubuck/synthsuede/neoprene are extremely comfortable and do not change the sound signature of the HD25 at all. They respect the original sound but are so much more fluffy-comfortable, with less Pressure on the sides of head and ears, great for long periods of listening.

These are even thicker than yaxi pads, and softer too. In fact, these are super comfy to be honest, but i think they went too far, already ordered something in between, something much much closer to those yaxi you mention. We'll see, but i think those will be on the sweetspot.

Funny how different phones fit different people's tastes. I've had the HD25's 3 different times over 20 years, and all 3 times I only keep them about 1-2 months because they just start to sound meh to me compared to whichever Grado I had at the time (SR80, MS-1, 125e, now 325e). I've also had a Sony mdr7506 that was similar to the HD25, but a bit more tame. The closest I've heard to the HD25 that is very fun to listen to is my son's ATH-MX50). But, I'm just addicted to open full size phones vs closed.
But the HD25's are great, esp considering they have had the same consistent sound and tough build for 20+ years.

I strongly recommend the “Yaxi HD25 Type-B” pads for regular HD25 (38$ Amazon.com). The Type-B are made mostly of Synth leather and provide a HUGE increase in comfort compared to the Synth leather stock pads. For the Amperior Version of the HD25 however I rather recommend the Yaxi SpaceRay earpads (42$). The SpaceRays are mostly made on Alcantara fabric and are better adapted to the Amperior’s thicker mid bass and it’s tendency to be a bit sibilant (lower treble) with synth leather pads. Both the Type-B with HD25 and the SpaceRays with the Amperior mostly retain the same sound signature and balance as their respective stock pad.
