FWIW: Just gave in and ordered the new gimbals from nyczaj.audio. Vanity = yes, beauty = yes, Unnecessary = yes. But I feel good about itOn a work break at home, I was in the mood for listening via a headphone whose sound (like the 1971 compilation of singles by The Who) is Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy. The obvious choice was:[Violectric HPA V281 is a splendid partner. Slight tube warmth, great tubelike dimensionality, wondrous transients.]

I will be doing the same for GH2 and for Hemp. Also, Turbulent Labs headbands: ‘coffee’ colour for GH2, ‘camel’ colour for Hemp .FWIW: Just gave in and ordered the new gimbals from nyczaj.audio. Vanity = yes, beauty = yes, Unnecessary = yes. But I feel good about it

You have no right to make so much sense. The measurements police will be after youIt sounds condescending to say, but a reliance on measurements (metrics) is what you do to compensate for a lack of experience (judgment).
This happens in the business world as well, where there's no substitute for business judgment. Metrics are important for assessing certain aspects of performance, but there's no substitute for simply having heard hundreds of different components.
Certain reviewers compensate for a lack of exposure to components by spouting out measurements that seem impressive, but are otherwise not indicative of sound quality.
But I digress...
Measurements are nice to know unless they are absolutely horrendous. Having been in retail and then wholesale audio we listened and judged on the sound and compatibility not whether the component’s THD was .02 or .2.You have no right to make so much sense. The measurements police will be after you
If we're being honest the only measurement that means anything is the FR curve and that's only a guidepost.Measurements are nice to know unless they are absolutely horrendous. Simple take from my over 35 years in the business.
BTW, I used to demo two or three top phono cartridges with almost identical frequency response, etc.,virtually each one sounding different.
Again based on my own experience.
Keep an open mind is a good approach.
True, but the cans don't look like monsters lolnice
also this
Nicely done as you reap the benefits.Finished beautifying a few of my Grado's today!
Both sound great, ZMF pads on both the one in the background is all Turblent (some old I had in storage and some new) with SR60X drivers and the Rholupat kit in the front is an old SR225i driver.
