To clarify, I am not posting the classified ad until probably late tonight or early tomorrow. So, only you guys will know about it until then.

PM any questions you may have in the meantime.

How did you avoid opening them for so long? 😂

I have or had, many Grado's over the course of time. I still have many of the higher end models. Tried the Verum 1 MK2 I got recently. It is definitely a different animal than any and all Grado's. That being said, they "kinda" have that Grado sound. Not the sparkly highs (close), but kinda of that grittiness we all love. At $349 a great value to change things up every now and then....Just saying..

Leo
I have a pair myself. They do have that "grittiness" to them. I find the Verum's speaker like in their presentation, like some reviews I've read or seen state. But they are a different animal than the Grado headphones I own. Like you, it's a nice change occasionally.

How did HE avoid opening them for so long? 😂
I think that might fall under the patient/client privilege guidelines but it certainly was nice of him to caretake them for the next guy who wants a virgin pair ready to make them their own.

A rare opportunity and an excellent phone.

For $800 USD (before shipping etc), one is hard-pressed to find anything better in solid-state than GLII + GR/PSU ☑️.
Well, you can find a pre-owned GS-1 for $500-600 and add the GSX mk2 modules to it, making it half of the circuit in the full blown GSX mk2. That would be my pick for sub $1k amp - probably beats amps many times its price TBH.

Got a nearly new GH2 today.

Sounds great out of the box and needs hardly any EQ on the Mojo 2. Sounds great with the headphone out of my iPad and with my Dragonfly Cobalt.

Slightly warmer and 'rounder' than the PS500e which has a little more defined bass but overall they are pretty similar.

The best way I can describe the RS-1 buttons with new driver's (x?) Installed.

Your buddy has a killer stereo system but turns it up just a hair too loud, so it just ever so slightly clips to the point of being annoying because you know it has the great potential of sounding awesome.

So, I'm hoping the break in period is the equivalent of my buddies volume knob on his awesome stereo.
If it is, then these just might be real keepers.👍
Is driver burn in necessary with all new grado drivers? How much improvement should I expect after x Amount of hours?
Thank's for any advice in advance.
Yes, approximately 35 hrs and the transformation will begin. The sibilance in the high frequency has subsided. They're starting to sound like a reference HP should.:L3000:
I think I'll be giving them plenty of head time.

Having a opportunity to buy a very used SR80s (no letter). I already have the SR80e and SR80x. Does this makes sense? I think the SR80e is very different from the SR80x - I have a special fondness for the "e" for being the gateway and the sparkly effect. Is the "s" model different in a interesting way? Thanks a lot!

Seems to depends on the amp. With my desktop setup Chord Mojo 1 with Mac Mini they sound very similar.

The GH2 seems to work better with 'normal' sound sources like my iPad though (compared to PS500e), the result is just more convincing.

The differences are subtle. PS500e has a slightly better bass definition, the GH2 has a little more pronounced treble. The GH2 has a 'cozy' sound signature while the PS500e is a tad more analytical.

Anyway, the difference PS500e vs RS2e is way bigger than PS500e vs GH2.

(The GH2 has only run for about 20 hours now... maybe there will be dramatic changes?)

I thought you already owned one?

Had RS2e and PS500e and White already! (and SR325e but those will go)
