Got Wood... How Original, NOT !!!

Have a look at post 5 of this thread, and then tell us the price of the 4.AAi

Thanks, Jim

I honestly have no clue why you're acting like this.  The OP never gave an explicit price.  The IEMs being talked about in this thread lately have been the IE80 ($400-450), and an Etymotic ER4 ($300).  The 4.Ai is 400 dollars, which is actually within the price range of the IE80 that's being talked about for some reason...  It was a simple mistake if anything.

Why?

When a sponsor is allowed to shill their product in a thread that makes no mention of their product... A part of the forum is lost.

Now had he posted to offer some clarification to some points made in the thread, fine.

Am I wrong, Jim

Thing is Jim I think he was well intentioned and at least to my knowledge he has a right to advertise his products since he is a direct sponsor of headfi. Not saying your point is wrong about the price constraint of the OP but how you went about it was a bit much.

Who cares if the guy wants to recommend a product they sale.  I think the 4. Ai is a good recommendation for what the OP might want.

Anyways Jim I see you pimping out Ety products to people that aren't even looking for something with that type of sound signature, when someone is looking for a good IEM with bass for hip hop the MC5, HF5, or ER-4 is not it even with the mod you talk about.

I want good bass, but not an abundance of it. I hate the overextended and booming bass. IEMs in the Analytical is likely where I'm going to fall, perhaps Balanced. I want cymbals to sound like cymbals, voices to sound accurate, and I want to hear fingers barely sliding across guitar strings if it's on the CD. I don't want so much high end that it's fatiguing, but a little brightness is fine. Accuracy is what I'm after.

I appologize, to offer more clarification, according to the reviews, the 4.Ai fits the OP sound quality requriements, like a glove.

In the reviews, and there are many, (see the previously posted links) you will find descriptive words and phrases such as:

1) balanced
2) accurate
3) If it's in the music, it's in the music
4) non fatiguing

Financially speaking:

I am not clear as to what the budget is, as this was not clearly stated.

Don't apologize for that, its a great recommendation for what the OP is looking for, Jim is just an Etymotic rep anyways or at least you'd think he was.

Very Nice...

Could you tell me what the IEMs weigh?

Thanks, Jim

Well, the OP did strike the GR07 from consideration due to cost so it stands to reason the case would be the same for the 4A since it's even more expensive.

Which confused me when people started talking about ER4s and IE80s (go back a page).

No I could not, as they are different at each build. But if you read the reviews you will find comments as "surprisingly small" & "tiny."

At first blush, one may think they are heavy due to the wood, but they are not because the wood is actually about as thin as a playing card, and the shell is hollow not solid like another popular  Uni-Fit IEM on the market today. Beyond that, as they have the "over the ear design" the ear also supports them etc, once they are placed in the ear they are fairly stationary.

Also, The wood is directly adheared to the rim/mouth of the shell. In other words, is is not used as a veneer, it is actually functional. Now you may be worried about the strenght, but considering it has about 1mm of acrylic over the top, it is just as strong as any other shell.

Although I have disagreed (quite strongly) with AsdtroTurf on a couple of occasions, and it's true that his love for Etymotic products can be said to be a bit extreme, AstroTurf, as far as I know, is not an Etymotic rep, and this time I fully agree with his post. This is not the first time FullCircle does this in the main forums. From the Terms of Service:
