First Impressions of the new Beyerdynamic T70p

  I currently have and enjoy the sound of the beyerdynamic dt1350. However the on ear design really bugs my ears during extended listening periods so i'm looking for something over ear. I'm just wondering if the T70p has a similar sound signature to the dt1350? Thanks!

The sound in DT-1350 and T70p are different. The T70p is brighter sounding headphone but once your ears adapt to it I think it sounds absolutely great. If you are addicted to electronica and rythm-driven music the T70p might not satisfy you. T70p does not have the bass-impact of the DT-1350. Still it has great resolution and air so it depends on what signature you prefer.

Thanks for the heads up! I was very close to pulling the trigger on the T70p. I really just want the dt1350 signature in a more comfortable over ear style can, Do you know if beyerdynamic or anyone else has anything similar sounding?

After having both T70p and T5p for a while I settled with T5p. It has more body than T70p but there was another intimacy in the T70p's that I liked. Technically the T5p is a better headphone but T70p has better price/performance ratio than T5p. I would say that T5p is closer to DT-1350 soundwise. 
 
Edit: I think you should try T70p if you have a chance though. But keep in mind that most people are disapointed with them at first listen because they are thinner/brighter than most other headphones. Once you are adjusted they have a lot to offer.

Has anyone heard the T70 in comparison to the Alpha Dogs or LCD-XCs?  I see those compared a lot, but not many comparisons with the T70s

I auditioned the T70 at a dealer in Aachen (germany) the other day, while I was actually looking to find a DT770 somewhere. I also got the chance to audition my first Grado and the DT880 as well as the COP.
I was blown away by the T70. Straight out of my HTC One M8 it sounded very nice, although the low-end was lacking a bit. But when the salesman provided me with a Fiio X3 loaded with pink floyd they showed what they were capable of. Total awesomness!!!
I am usually more of a low-end oriented guy, but the awesome clarity and layering of the T70 were very impressive. 
 
I ordered mine yesterday for about 400 USD, I'm not sure if you could consider that a bargain but for EU standards it's a pretty good deal. I'm very curious to see how it will perform tomorrow. I did get the T70p (32 Ohm) though, since I have no big desk amplifier atm.
My Denon home amp will have to do together with some portable amp and the HTC or Surface directly.

T70 are indeed good. In their price range - brillant. And to me still one of the best (available) really closed, good isolated, headphones ever.

Well, in anticipation of the arrival of the T70p tomorrow I'm looking for some amplification to drive them a bit better.
 
The man in the store last week let me demo the T70 on a Fiio X3 DAP. I'm now looking into buying either the Fiio E07K or E17 (which has the same circuit as the X3). 
However, there's a price difference of 50 euro's between the two and I'm deciding between the two now. Is the difference between them big enough?
 
Hopefully somebody in this thread can help...

I can see that you are in the EU. Then you should have a look at Meier Quickstep for your T70. I do not know about your budget but the Quickstep really gives the T70 what they need and they sound great together. Just a tip before you go for the other ones.

The e07k looks like the best option so far, as long as the difference between the e07 and e17 isn't that big.

I can get a Meier Audio Crada2move for a reasonable price though, would that be an upgrade over the fiio options?

Here are my first impressions, after a few hours of use:
 
Driven by my HTC One M8 (no extra audio processing going on), it sound really big and detailed, while the focus is on the high-mids and highs. The low-end is certainly there, in a good amount and with perfect clarity, but it is a bright phone.
 
Driven by my Denon DCD-1500AE using SA-CD's; woah, what a different beast. I can tell you, even though it's 32 Ohms it is a totally different headphone when driven with authority. The low-end suddenly comes to live and the highs are tamed down a bit. The balance is impressive and the amount of detail these puppies retrieve is equally impressive. The low-end is so clear and beautifully layered, this is really a headphone that I can enjoy.
 
I will post more detailed impressions later.

Yeah ok. I can see that there is a significant price difference  
I have never heard the Fiio products, so I do not know anything about how they compare to the Meier amps. The 2Move is not the newest amp out there but I used to have one and I liked it a lot. It has a bit more bass and more low end than the Quickstep but it sounds great with T70. I had both at the same time and it is a great combination.
 
One thing I remember when I had the T70 (and T70p) is that they are probably the headphones I have owned that reacted most to Meiers cross feed. It is often difficult to hear any difference whether cross feed is on or off but with the T70 I could hear the difference on many tracks. So the T70 can do a thing or two when it comes to imaging that a lot of other headphones are not able to.

There is one great amp that matches perfect with T70, I own it, after long research I decided to take it as it was absolutely brillant with T70 (but I have version 250ohm, it can work woth OTL tube amp)
What I wanted to say is to consider buying tube amp as it is also great with T70. The one I have is Espressivo-E and is about 250$ and it is hand made in Poland, but trust me it sound like 1000$
machine.

I am really enjoying my T70p with my AK120. Very nice portable setup. I usually prefer headphones with stronger bass and fuller sound (like LCD-2 for example) but somehow the T70p (and the T 70) have something incredibly addictive which make them two of my favourite headphones at the moment. Clarity and detail are outstanding on these.

Always a very nice part of our hobby when a headphone in which you have not very high expectations "on paper" can surprise you like this once you actually hear it.

I decided to go with the Fiio E07K. I'm very curious how the combo will sound and I hope the DAC OTG functionality works with my HTC One m8.
I will post a review later this week, I'm a tad too busy atm.
 
But this headphone keeps amazing me, especially when driven right. Been goofing around with Viper4android a bit, with the T70p presets, and it does make for a decent improvement of the way the HTC drives the Beyers.
But I have to experiment a bit more.
 
I've tried them with my old GoVibe v5 the other day, and while improved, the sound was a tad too bright. It seemed as if the GoVibe couldn't drive the low-end of the T70p with authority.
 
EDIT: short update
 
Okay, I've bought an extension cable so I can use em with my Denon DCD1500ae on the couch. I must start by stating that I have no idea how the headphone output stage of the Denon compares to an average headphone amplifier.
But I can't seem to understand the 'too little low-end' claims. Sure, when I'm driving them straight out of my HTC they're a tad bright and perhaps lean on the low-end (I find them reasonably balanced). 
But when I'm using them directly from the Denon DCD they sound amazing. The clarity is awesome and the base is impressive. It's really nicely textured and incredibly layered. It never sounds lacking in the low-end of the spectrum, and when called for, it can even sound like a (good quality) subwoofer is on your head. On some track the earpads even showed some slight 'rumbling'.
 
All in all, it really is like putting a magnifying glass over your music. And I LOVE it.

Owning both T5P & T70P, i can say I just dropped the T70p for the T5P, even if it not burned yet...
 
T70P is a great piece of headphones, but for my ears, T5P is far ahead....
