Campfire - Solaris

They sound less “boomy” with burn in, and a nice amp. The Mojo, Hugo 2, AK Kann, or on a closer to real earth budget, I picked up a used Vorzuge Pure II and it is an incredible pairing!
A new Amp is my next upgrade. Maybe the Q5 just isn’t enough for these. The chord was going to be my next purchase but I’ve heard it gets lots of interference when used with a cell phone my primary DAP. I’ll have to do some research on the Pure II.

Whatever you choose make sure it has a black background against the easily driven Solaris.

Just got these and not sure how I feel about them. The bass seems really over powering to me, might just be because I came from the Jupiters. Does the bass mellow our a little bit after a good burn in?

Hi man,

I have been using the Solaris for a few months as my only IEMs. I had quite a ride with the bass performance on those, partly - I think - due to brain burn in and partly to the DD being worn in.
When I first got the Solaris after the Andromeda, the bass response felt extreme. That changed dramatically after a couple of hours and I really felt let down by the lack of power of the bass, then. There were times when I was unsure if the bass performance of the Andromeda did not actually surpass that of the Solaris.
Now, at 50-100h of listening, I am so enticed by the bass. It is just right. Extension, rumble, vibration and control. There is warm and luxurious emphasis in the lows (i.e. not neutral) which makes the Solaris rich sounding (I never understood those who called the Solaris bass-light).
The Solaris could be more open-sounding but alas, that is its signature and warm nature which is wonderful and melodic just as well.

My takeaway is this: If you're unhappy with the Solaris and can't return them, give 'em time before you resell them.

My only, only, only, complaint with the Solaris is fit. That's why I'm hoping my VE8 custom will serve me as well as the Solaris has

Given the sensitivity of the Solaris, does it seem likely that the Drop + THX Achromatic Audio Amplifier (THX AAA™) 789 amp would be a good match for a desktop rig?
I dunno, I can't comment on the impression...
Solaris is very sensitive and easy to drive, which I think CFA means to aim mobile usage, can easily drive by a smartphone which is the majority user.
but Still the challenge will be Hiss / black background...

regarding DESKTOP rig, interference will be the main issued...
I used ASUS ROG with desktop DAC D30 and Amp A30... The OI is 10.8 ohm... the low/Bass suffered, try pairing with iFI eBuddy, not helping...
hope can get my point...

I did a few in depth CA/ALO Audio cable testing a few times

And later in the Cascade,
Atlas and Solaris reviews (litz, super litz and sxc-8)
(Back when i did exhaustive reviewing).

Not sure if this the right spot to ask this, but...

Is there an open back headphone with a similar sound presentation as the Solaris?
I think the Sony MDR-Z1R is similar, maybe not as deep in bass.

Really impressed with Solaris' isolation...I'm on an airplane amidst screaming babies and roaring jet engines and all I hear is the music...even the nuances in the deep and thumping bass are not lost.

God I wish universals fit me as well as that :frowning2:

Yeah I've been very lucky in that regard...we'll see if that luck continues with the Sony IER Z1R I have coming in the mail.

There is a sweet spot with the fit of the Solaris. Once I found it I can go to it each time, but I struggled a little at first
