Beyerdynamic to launch new top headphone at IFA -- called T1

So Mooh after this brief encounter do you feel like T1 might be in tier 2 of the headphones ladder togeter with gs1000,hd800 etc? Or it is just a marketing work to charge 88o for something that can be had for 250euros? If they resemble AT house of sound I'm in anyway , just out of curiosity obviously trying to justify spending.

BTW, in the USA the price appears to be 749 Euro - 899 must include the EU VAT. As soon as I logged into Beyer's estore (I have an account since I have ordered Manufaktur headphones before), the price I got was 749 Euro, plus 25 Euro shipping via DHL.

Not I just have to hope they actually hit the 11/15 date

No, it's definitely better then the standard "premium" headphones from beyer. And closer to the HD800 than to the DT880.

I will take my '03-DT880 with me tomorrow and verify that so take with a grain of salt at the moment.

Thanks for the report, and the pics, m00hk00h! Particularly the last one showing the inside cup. I didn't realize that the driver was truly angled, or completely exposed. I so wanna hear these!

Yes, 890 Euro includes VAT and that has always come off at the end of the ordering process for USA/non-European orders. IIRC VAT = 19%........so, the math checks out (roughly).

mOOhkOOh,
Thanks for the heads-up on the Tesla 1.

Your report on the shrunken soundstage is a bit disconcerting, though. Where would you gauge it [i.e. soundstage dimensions] between the current DT880 and, say, the SA5000? One thing I most enjoy about the DT880/2003 is their sense of spaciousness.

Their high frequency performance is another aspect of the DT880 that I have come to enjoy as well. In that regard, it sounds as though the Tesla 1 represents even further improvements; that's a very encouraging report.

Thanks again.

Wondering if that just come from fully exposed driver as there is a lot of foam in front of driver on Premium models.

He said that with his ears, angled drivers result in a shrunken soundstage. However, I wonder if it's because the drivers are too close to his hears? I've noticed that I don't get a big soundstage with ATs with angled drivers for this reason.

Must....resist.....buying....a....pair...to....try ....

Edit: I've started a blog listing people's impressions here, as I did with the HD-800s, so you wont have to hunt for them all once people get their hands on them.
