Beyerdynamic T90 Discussion and Support Thread

It's a bit deceptive imo to not mention detachability when talking about headphone cables and durability. Same reason people care about about replaceable batteries in phones regardless of how long the stock battery lasts. Plus the T90 cable is very average. Sure it's more durable than HE-500, but it's on the same level as most headphones like M50. Doesn't even have the cloth wrap like the HD700.

If you look to the Original post that I was replying to , he was worried about breaking the cables by accidentally tugging on them, my comment about the build quality was in this context.

Yes and should you break the cable, one you simply buy a $20 replacement. The other, if you're off warranty, replace the entire headphone or pay far more than $20 to get it fixed if you're not handy yourself. I'm just taking a bigger picture view on cabling durability.

The only way you will break the T90 cable is if you decide to have a tug of war with it

I should also mention I dislike the mini coaxial attachments on the HE-500. While it's detachable, the way the ports stick out, it looks just as easily broken as then cable itself. Also I've heard the headband breaking on the HE-500. With all that said, I've also heard service to be great for Hifiman. They've replaced headphones for people out of warranty for $60.

Do the T90 cable tangle easy where it doesnt want to go back to normal. As that what annoy me about my DT880, I have to fight the cable to get un tangled part way.

Thanks for the replies regarding budget amps. It's a relief to know a Vali (Which I'll be ordering soon) is enough to drive the T90 because I was starting to fear I had purchased the headphone equivalent of a Ferrari to drive in a mud track.

Driving mine with a Vali right now. 8AM is comfortable volume. 9am will blow your ears out. Use very small increments.

The vali does a fine job. I might eventually move up to a bottlehead if I can convince myself to build one.

After doing alot of research and from info you guys gave me, I wouldn't like the HE-500 do to the weight since that what irked me about the A900X's. Then the T90 really has the sound signature and the sound imaging that I wanted. Thx for the help guys, now the only thing left to do is to save up.

I think its a bit different , T90 cable is a little bit thicker & dosen't tangle so easily. But I don't have the T90's anymore to confirm, can anyone who has both confirm this ?

Please see attached photos of DT880 Premium and T90 next to each other.

They are identical.

Regarding the cable: it's " high end cable" officially. Here is the link with table at the bottom:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00890YNBK/ref=mw_dp_mdsc?dsc=1&qid=1396274687&sr=8-1

It says that all Tesla headphones have high end cable.
