Basically US and canada usually always has duties attached to parcels but i think since you are shipping it out for recabling(repairs) and mark your product as 100 dollars it won't get touched by a customs officer for duties. And when james sends it back your way you won't see it attached with a duties price tag(at least in my experience)

I meant: Inside a country you don't have to deal with customs and/or VAT when sending something for repair, modification etc. Normally you will have to deal with this when you're sending something across country borders. I believe the EU unified/inner market means that crossing borders inside EU doesn't trigger any customs and/or VAT handling.
 
If I've understood correctly a person in France can order something from Denmark, Danish VAT is payed as if the person was in Denmark and there's no customs and/or VAT handling when the item enters/crosses the border into France. Is this correct?
 
Norway is outside EU. We must pay Norwegian VAT on goods we import whether it's from Sweden, UK, France, USA, Japan or somewhere else. On the other side the seller can and should subtract its national VAT from the goods before export. The European Amazons and many other net shops does this automatically. Meier Audio (http://www.meier-audio.homepage.t-online.de/) has two sets of prices: "outside EU" (excl. German VAT) and "inside EU"  (incl. German VAT).

Is this a Canada or a Canada-USA thing? I believe there's a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) that may be in play.

I'm looking for a XLR 4-pin at basically minimal cost.  The original cable quality is fine with me and a mod would be fine too.  The headphones are good, but I don't need solid silver or anything like that  Another alternative would be adding Sennheiser HD 800 connectors to the headphones and then I could provide the cable.  I'll look around.

It seems like you may mix the subjects of economy and border control.
 
Norway's connection to the rest of Europe is admittedly a bit compliceted:

1. Norway is one of the Nordic countries which have the Nordic Passport Union since 1952
2. Norway is a member of th European Economic Area (EEA) which provides for the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital through 3 EFTA and 27 EU countries
3. Norway and the other Nordic countries are part of the Schengen Area since 1996. See also Nordic countries and Schengen. Schengen is about border control between member states, common visa policy etc. Ireland and UK aren't members. All other EU countries are members or obliged to become a member. Several non-EU countries (including Norway) are included in the area. The Schengen Agreement became a core part of EU law in 1999 and hence is obligatory for all EU countries except the original opt-outs Ireland and UK.
4. It seems like Denmark only had problems with ratification of the Maastricht Treaty, not the Amsterdam Treaty, nor the Schengen Agreement.

I belive someone recently wrote in this thread that the original cable has 4 conductors. Hence you can cut off the original 3.5 mm TRS and connect/solder on a 4-pin XLR instead.
 
The original cable is rather light and thin for such a heavy conector. I assume that the user should be (a bit) careful when using this combination.

Just received my Headphones back from James@ http://www.stefanaudioart.com
The custom cabling work that was done is absolutely beautiful.
The texture and feel is silky smooth and the look and design is stunning.
I wouldn't expect anything less from James as he has done all my cables in my recording studio.
 
The sound quality at first impressions is always a bit off because it is brand new cabling and needs around 250 hours to be burned in.
ive had maybe 4 hours burn in time so far and the sound field has opened up like a open back headphone, the imaging is much more precise and the fullness is similar to a set of near field monitors, perhaps a bit thicker. 
from first listen i felt the bass was bloomy and the highs were dulled excessively, but after only 4 hours from comparing back and forth with my akgs for HF impression, the T5ps are losing its bloomy-ness and the highs are coming in nicely. the mid range is perfect.
I look forward to burning these in for at least a solid 2 weeks before i will post final thoughts on the new cable change.
anyone wondering about the connector on the end it is an ebony wood connector.
