What sonic differences do you notice??

The leather pads on the DT990's, to me, were subtle, but a bit firmer bass, and yes, just a bit more of it

I've tried the same phones as you, and as far as fun with a great level of detail\reference... I prefer the DT990s also! I can't believe I overlooked these phones for 5 or so months! I just need to get my hands on a Rega and I'm set for a while!

I'm not doubting what you say. As a matter of fact I've heard others say the same thing. So, obvious question, what's the point in having 32 ohm and 250 ohm versions? If there's no SQ difference? Why not just have a 32 and 600 ohm (since the 600 is supposed to be a different beast)

There is no difference whatsoever between the 32 ohm and the 250, to my ears though.

I think that on some amplifier there will be no difference at all , but once you"ll connect it directly , let's say to IPod , you"ll hear the difference.

probably for studio equipment or top of the line amps that can handle easily high impendance phones.

32 can be driven by mp3 players/sound cards so it's available to the average budget.

So as said a decent amp wont make a difference.

Edit: Shahter you got me first

Yes then the 32 will sound better, because the ipod can drive it better. But I think there must be some difference between 32 and 250 when both is properly amped, maybe it is just some amps and some music that will be able to detect it.

If It isn't so, then why has beyer done those two versions? Maybe it is so that you can finetune the volumecontrole better?

Im thinking about buying a pair of dt990s, but Im still trying to decide whether to go for the 250 ohm version or the 600 ohm version..is it worth spending the extra $$$ on the 600 ohm version? Is it just a tad bit better or is there a huge difference?

The 600 ohm versions are smoother and a little more detailed, and have a little more bass, IMO. But it isn't a super-huge difference, and the 250 ohm ones are still very good.
