Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

Is the DT 150 much different from the 770?

Yes, besides the fact that there are mutiple versions of the DT770 sounding all a bit different.
In another thread I wrote this about the DT 770 pro 80 ohm vs DT150:

"I had the DT770/80 twice, one of them this year. But the DT150 is IMO superior in almost every aspect.

Smoother, fuller sound. Much better bass, natural mids and nice treble (without the grating DT770 glassy treble and sibilance).
The DT770 sounded just awful to my ears compared to the DT150 (and many others)."

I prefer the DT150 also over the bright and thin sounding DT770 edtion 250 and 600 ohm.

In fact, from the Beyers I heard, I like the DT150 best.

DT150 -with appropriate stuffing beneath the earpads and thin foam removal above the driver (like Lors mentioned earlier)-

is one of the best sounds I have ever heard.

I could describe the 150 in so many diff ways...
Heard it clear as a bell like a T1,
Or fullbodied like a closedversion of hd650...
n inbetween like a spacey cathedral sound (Enya)
thru a tubechange.

Whatever way anyone heard it is Correct..
Cos it's transparent n tells u how u hv been treatg it.:)

770 is midfi.....150 is high five!!
biggrin.gif

Almost all Beyer DTs are HiFi , I don't know what makes the 770 "Mid-Fi" ?
Unless you start judging headphone fidelity by Frequency Response.

I am torn bertween the HD 600 and the DT 150 =/

Already have a DT 770 and a Sony Ma900

Do you want open or closed? HD600 to me is clearer and more balanced. DT 150 has more bass but is still quite clear. HD600 is a lot more comfortable. They're two complementary sound signatures to my ears and I'm glad I've got them both.

They are quite complimentary headphones, though I find the HD 600 the better of the two headphones overall. The DT 150 isn't quite as natural and textured sounding as the HD 600. Neither will really sound like your other headphones. I personally think the HD 600 will fit in better with the other two headphones you have.

DT150 presents a bigger wall of sound than the DT770...
side by side, i find the 770 trying v hard to break out of its shell vs the 150.

The 150 can pull out some serious bass punch...
something which i find the hd600 lacking a wee bit at times, which was y it was SOLD.

I see, I think it is smarter to get the one that would compliment better. Since I care a lot about comfort, I think I will get the HD 600. Maybe the DT 150 later. I also thought about the K612, but opinions are divided and the HD 600 has a history.

Resolution-Transparency-Detail-Clarity-Imaging.... the 150 , the hd600s are only for the collectors , even the dt880 surpass them , if you want performance go Beyer.

I can't really agree with that personally, especially considering the HD 600 tops the DT 150 in all those aspects on my system. The bigger question is what headphone sounds better on what system.
