V-MODA Crossfade LP Metal Headphone

Sennheiser HD 439 Headphones

Grado Prestige Series SR80i Stereo Headphone

These three are the ones Ive been looking at, any other suggestions?  I listen to soft rock to metal and everything in between, and I am a bit of a gamer.

Thanks

I second the MS1! The SR80i would also do the job well.

To help out the OP, the CAL! uses the D1001 drivers, so reviews on the D1001 SQ will be the same.

Are there any other factors into the headphone consideration? Portability, over-ear, etc.

Go with the sennheiser HD 439, its the newest and a better all-rounder than the rest, and a guy above posted the creative aurvana live as a suggestion but little does he know that the sennheiser HD 428 pawns it , so the bigger brother for the HD 439 will do the same if not worse.

Sennheiser hd 439 for sure!! I upgrade from 439's to 558's and miss the HD 439's so much. I also liked my Klipsch s4i's a lot but that was back when I liked having a lot of bass, now I prefer a brighter sound focusing on mids & highs.

Open or closed cans? Considering sound leaks?

I would say u could...save a little more and go for HFI-580...or M50

Avoid the ATH-M50 (not a good allrounder) leave it to the studio professionals

I beg to differ ... IMHO, its a good all rounder even though its a monitoring headphone, its not neutral...

For me the recessed mids of the M50 makes it a less than optimal can for all-around use.

I understand, but for me I find them mildly recessed in the mids...for the price, seriously unbeatable. But thats just my opinion. You have got a point too.
