Don't agree with the HTF600 vs the DT770. When I switch to the beyers they sound clearer. The pannys in comparison have a very small in your face soundstage and music sounds a bit more clustered. I can't stand the clamp of the DT770's though. The ones I have are everything people say they aren't. They aren't comfortable and honestly aren't the "bass Monsters" everyone says they are. WIth dolby headphone the bass sounds kinda sterile. The CAL's had more bass.

What do you plug the Pannys and DT770 into?

Actually, one of the reasons I got rid of the DT770 was because of the Pannies!! The Pannies surprise me more and more. The DT770, to me, just had better highs (or at least more prominent) and of course, they were fully-closed so they didn't leak like a faucet like the Pannies do.
 
The A900X to my ears is on ANOTHER LEVEL from those two and the Mids are just tasty. Actually, I think highly (sound-wise) of the ATs, is just that once I find one thing that bothers me a lot, I don't stick with it. Yeah it doesn't provide the bass of the Pannies/DT770 but everything else to me sounds great.

My ATH-A900Xs arrived yesterday, Now i feel fine selling off my two DT770s.
and I'm hopeful theA900X get even better after 100 hours.

Well for gaming I use the Turtlebeach x41 hub, but for music I've got my xonar DG soundcard. I've tried plugging them both into my denon receiver as well.

I believe the A900X borrows some parts from the A1000X, all I know.

hello guys, how do you think a900x compared to hd558 and hd518?
also do we really need to have a big head to wear a900x comfortably with good isolation?

I own the HD558 and as of yesterday, the A990X, both are good headphones.
The HD558 is open and the A900X is closed.
I think I have a medium sized head, the A900X is a fairly light gripe, the HD558 a little firmer grip.

How do you feel a900x is soundstage wise? I'm pretty sesitive to harsh and overly bright treble, do a900x have this? Is it fatiguing?

I don't think the A900X's are fatiguing at all.  It is very balanced for a closed pair of cans!  The treble is there, but it blends very nicely with everything else. The soundstage is the best I've heard in a closed pair.

For a closed headphone, I also agree the A900X are not fatiguing.

Within the next week or so I may be able to get my hands on the AKG K550.  I think they're at similar price points, so I'm really interested in seeing which one I prefer more!
