Not so fast. I just downloaded the mini, but installation fails for some reason.

I use Snow Leopard with all the latest updates.

It fails at "Running Script" or something alone that line..'

EDIT: I closed all programs while installing. Same results with below message.

"The installation failed."

The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

Try this:

Applications >> Utilities >> Console >> somewhere at the top Left will be a "show all" or something like that. Watch in the console window for the error when you do the install.

I said i wanted to be sure before downloading Snow Leopard to be sure all the bugs were out of it for everything, esp if there ended being a problem with Amarra. He said good idea. Email them at Sonic Solutions, where you download the trial and ask. I am running regular Leopard.

By the way, I just did a short a/b with the optical out of my macpro compared to the usb and I thought the usb was much better. Got to admit though you have to go thru the hoop, you can't toggle between them. You have to close Amarra/itunes and then plug in the other connector and go to preferences and switch it, then reopen Amarra, that opens itunes and find what you were listening to. I like to toggle to do a good a/b. Anyway, I didn't like the optical as much, it wasn't even really close. Still to hear the difference between itunes and Amarra, you may be able to pick it up, I could tell more with the usb though.

I use Amarra with Snow Leopard, it works well. The only glitch is that Amarra does not auto mute Itunes when it invokes it. There is a new Amarra update about to be released though, so hang out for a few days and nab that version.

The explanation given to me by Sonic is that they enabled the "on board" sound to work with Amarra, based on feedback from customers who own the program, however, the on board audio is not an "approved device". So...

FWIW--I have always preferred the MAC USB out to the optical, but that's just me, and everyone knows I hear things, ha!

OK, I have derailed this thread enough, back to Audio-gd.

Peace,

Lee

Why do you about he got more votes? Do you ruminate over he was broadly more popular? Or do you about he had a numeral of bloody crazed fans who voted as far as something him a large sum up of times? Or was it a voter repercussion against the judges' obvious urge on the side of Adam to win? Or did fewer people vote for Adam than would comprise if not because he is gay? Or do you procure some other theory or theories? I feel sorry instead of misspelling Adam's last name. I in point of fact knew how to plain it - this was purely a typo!

Paceap is where you go to get the plug in to use the ilok key with the license on it for uninterrupted use on the trial. That is when they send you the key with a deposit. I recognize that part of it at least.

So...this means I need to get off my arse and take the Ref 1 in to compare it to the Esoteric D05 as I said I'd do ages ago?

I just wanted to share a really stellar recording that I'm enjoying with the CD7/RE1/Phoenix combo. It's Vivaldi Musica per mandolino e liuto (Naive).

This is by far the most realistic disc I have in my collection. I'm surprised at what a difference it is. This difference is easily as much as any component / cable upgrade I've experienced.

This music crosses genres, so you only need the slightest interest in 'classical'. As mentioned before in other posts, the Ref1 really shines with strings / acoustic, non-electronic music.

This is a small chamber ensemble with a beautiful interpretation of the baroque composer's genius. It features the mandolin and lute as well as some great violin surrounded by a wonderful string accompaniment. This group would sound great no matter what they played, but Vivaldi elevates them even further.

This quality recording yields the most profound 3D effect and instrument separation I've heard. The experience for me is the reward that allows me to forget the O/C journey that brought me to this point and now allows pure enjoyment of the music.

I am happy to report I received my shipment of Phoenix/Ref-1 last week, but as an L.A.County Fireman who has been pre-occupied with the fires and memorials for our Fallen Brothers, I just got around to opening the box. Much to my happiness...every piece was packed well, perfect cosmetic condition, NOT adorned with a bunch of stickers,...and most important...SOUNDS AWESOME! I am putting a few days straight of burn-in, while at work, and will be able to critically assess things better next week. But, after a few hours, I strongly agree with the majority of owners regarding it's sound. Based on using the ACSS connections, in my opinion, this combo is a sonic bargain and a no-brainer for "best bang for the buck" in it's price range.

How is the Ref1 compared to your PWD?
