Anyone have any issues with the wood oil leaking inside the flight case? Apparently that's what happened to the pair I just sold to another Head Fi'er and some of it got inside the earcup. Wondering if there could be any damage to the drivers? Kinda freaking out.

doubt it. I had water spill in a bag that had my he-400's in it, and they were sitting in standing water for a couple hours. I let them dry out and they fired right up.

I just wouldn't play anything through them until they are cleaned and dried to the best ability. Stick them in a bag of cotton balls or pillow stuffing or something to draw out all of the moisture and cross your fingers.

Has anyone matched the LCD-2 with the Woo WA7 fireflies?  I know different tubes produce different results, but curious if tubes make the LCD-2 a little too laid back?

I pair my LCD-2 F with mjolnir 2 that offers both ss and tube options. The F's sound fantastic with 1975 Reflektors silver SWGP. These are Russian tubes. They enhance the qualities of the phones. Because the mjolnir 2 has the option of switching between the two, I've had the opportunity to A-B between ss and tubes and I can't say these tubes make the Fs sound laid back. Other tubes may do that, but not these.

I had the same tubes and amp recently. I can't say that it was a great match. It wasn't to my ears. It's funny how we all perceive sound differently! I much preferred the sound of my Burson Soloist with all of my Lcds,Hifiman and ZMF Omnis but especially the Lcds.the mj2 with the reflectors and other tubes was good but the Burson had much great PRaT. The first thing that hit me was the bass authority of the Burson and the energy that it lends to music. High end sparkle and soundstage depth was all there! It truly keeps my toes tapping. I bought the mj2 to replace the Burson for the extra power output and balanced output but in the end neither of those two things mattered much. The Burson is just much more fun and let's the Lcds be all they can be. Of course, this is my personal opinion but it's an opinion based on listening to music since the 70's and having a professionally calibrated home audio system.

Any bottle of fluid with some air in the bottle will be pressurized in flight, and likely leak. Always place small bottles in a sealed ziplock.

Learned this lesson the hard way.

Just kidding around!

I induced permanent tinnitus with a 20 minute test of some unattenuated tweeters 10 years ago.

lol! I have not had the opportunity to listen to the Burson so I can't judge it's sonic qualities. Regarding your opinion carrying more weight than others, that is certainly open to debate. There are many people on this site that have a lot of experience so I wouldn't get carried away with your credentials.

Am looking at Mjolnir 2 for my LCDs.   As I intend to listen using the balanced mode of the mj2 which is generally preferred, I was wondering whether your comparisons were with balanced or SE out.

I think I'm going to stay with the Hugo.  Great cohesive and detailed sound, and the medium crossfeed setting enhances the soundstage.

I mainly used the balanced outputs. Besides having typically less power output ,the se simply didn't sound as
engaging as the balanced output.

Yea,yea I hear ya. Not only do people hear differently, they interpret words differently too. I wasn't diminishing other members credentials for sure, but only trying to validate mine. There's a difference. Now, about that beer!

The bottle of oil usually comes in a ziplock-style plastic baggie to mitigate against this kind of mishap.

I would have the drivers checked out if the oil indeed permeated the cups. Unfortunate.

I had WA7 for a while with LCD-2.2.  Good, but not great like the Burson Soloist and BHA-1. For the money, there's better out there, imo.

My LCD-2's are becoming even more bothersome when it comes to treble :( Why did Audeze move away from the dark sound of the pre fazor!

What amp are you using?

I found that poorly-recorded tracks played too loudly will make almost any HP sound harsh and unmusical. imo. Just saying.
