Burson Soloist SL a good pairing?

I have the Burson Soloist and I believe it's the perfect pairing as do many reviewers. I had the Schiit Mjolnir2 with some great tubes. It just didn't have great synergy with my LCD 2 or 3s. It was ok but I was bored as I listened to music that once had my toes tapping and my head bobbing.I had missed the energy, excitement and bass impact that the Burson had. I sold the Schiit and put the Burson back. I am once again whole:grinning:. The SL should have the same synergy even with half the power output of the Soloist.

What do. You recommend for impressive, sound engaging, fun, immersive sound? Something that wowed with quality?

If you're looking for a more exciting "wow" sound, you might even try an he400, especially with audeze vegan pads.

Higher end hps can take away some peoples impression of wow factor because of their increased smoothness and refinement.

He-400 has a impressive sound, with more of a wow factor because of its more impactful bass, more sparkle, and more air and space around the instruments

You might want to try Fostex TH900 or Fostex Thx00 or wait for the new Fostex TH610.

On the other hand you may have just lucked out with 846. Looks like an impressive IEM. Wouldn't mind hearing it one day.

Which HE400 did you get? There are a few versions. The HE400i was good. If you didn't like the LCD2 not sure if the 400 is going to impress you.

The 846 has such a huge bass tilt. The Fostex will give you the low end.

Yeah. There's that dip in the 4K area, that I tried quickly to EQ, but found I liked the original sound better.

I think that dip is what gives the sound more depth.  4 to 8 is upper mids where you find a lot of drums and guitar and upper vocals.  IMO, pushing that too far forward loses some spatial quality.

Yeah, I think so too. Pushing that region could also add some clarity and attack to guitars, vocals etc. Make them more forward.

Have I mentioned recently how much I love these headphones? :D

Tonight I listened through The Beatles For Sale. The imaging and separation was so realistic. The sound so clear. The vocals were the most natural I'd ever heard, with such detail and texture. Godd@mn, these things don't sound like headphones at all. :basshead:

Finally got the FR curve for my LCD-2.1 pair from Audeze - it seems they were made in november 2010:

All I got is this one pic - where's the other channel?

What do you guys think?

An oldie but goldie in headphone time scales these days....
Here is my 2.1 graph.
The great thing with the 2s is you can get this sliding scale of the signature change used and new for your own sound preference.

I've got a pair of December 2015 LCD-2 with the improved extension and I'm finding 11-12KHz peak a little harsh in a lot of my songs. Anyone else find this? The rest of the sound is absolutely perfect though.

I'm not getting any harshness anywhere on the spectrum, though it may be due to song selection or the fact that my hearing is not as good.

Your pair looks flatter than mine, esp. with that smaller dip in the 4K region. All in all, these two have pretty similar graphs though. Made just 3 days apart.
