My LCD-2's are becoming even more bothersome when it comes to treble :( Why did Audeze move away from the dark sound of the pre fazor!

Honestly, in my experience, the recently manufactured drivers are a noticeable improvement in the treble and bass department. When mine were just recently replaced, the bass was noticeably better and he treble was tamed just right so it never got glaring no matter the song.

Is it normal for audeze to create a flapping sound when you press the headphones against the ears while wearing them. I think when i press the headphones it does create vacuum. But i wasnt expecting this to happen in the first place. I picked up my LCD 2F from the recent adorama sale and i am happy with it.

Can someone confirm if this flapping sound is normal.

Does it kind of sound like cellophane is crackling?  Mine do that, but only when I first put them on, and then I don't hear it again.  Doesn't seem to have any other effect.

lol! I have not had the opportunity to listen to the Burson so I can't judge it's sonic qualities. Regarding your opinion carrying more weight than others, that is certainly open to debate. There are many people on this site that have a lot of experience so I wouldn't get carried away with your credentials.

:beerchug:

And then there are the people, like myself, that dismiss his entire post as audiophile fantasy land sound upon reading "PRaT".

Yes. I hear them only when i squeeze the headphone earpads against my ears after i wear them.

I live in a really dry climate.  I was thinking it might be a static discharge in the drivers.  Still it doesn't affect the sq and it doesn't do it all the time.

Why would you press them against your ears -- are they too loose?

Patient: Doc, my head hurts.
Doctor: Explain. When does it hurt?
Patient: When I twist my neck from side to side.
Doc: Then don't twist your neck.

Try not to deform the pads, that's all.

HE is a different beast -- single-sided planars, I think, vs. double-sides with Audezes (?).

Correct :). Which is funny, because that would normally suggest that the HE would be warmer than the Audeze (via even order distortion like tubes), when in fact I find the opposite. I think this speaks to the understated detail retrieval found in the "smooth" sound of the Audeze that really makes it such a special headphone [company].

I had no issues with detail retrieval on LCD-2.2.  I haven't heard the fazors, though.

He called it "understated" not lost. That's how I would describe it as well: elegantly understated. The details are there, simply held at a distance.

I contacted Audeze about this very same thing, and here is their answer:

Also, do you hear the squishing sound while playing audio? It seems the sound you are describing is the diaphragm and is very common with planar driver headphones. When the air is trapped inside of the ear cup there is not much space for air to escape. When you push on the headphones you may hear a very slight sound from the diaphragm. This is normal and is nothing to be worried about. That is the sound of the thin diaphragm moving back and forth with the air suction against the driver components. That is the way the drivers are built and we can't change that without compromising the sound.
Bet Regards
Kim.

Kind Regards,
Audeze
