@N.Mendes, try to check if "External USB" button in Notification Panel of SR15 changes its color, when you plug your speaker to SR15 via USB.
Try to press it.

From SR15's user guide:
"How to Connect a Portable USB DAC
1. Connect the portable USB DAC to the AK device’s 5-Pin Micro USB port with a dedicated cable.
2. Press "External USB" in the Notification Bar.
3. Once "External USB" is activated, you can enjoy music on the device through the connected portable USB DAC."

@punknotyet Thank you very much for your answer, that's exactly what i did but the "External USB" stays unactivated when i press it.
I understand why now, the cable i've bought does not clearly state its OTG support :

I now have two solutions :
- Buying a micro usb (host) to USB-c OTG cable (these are very hard to find, any guidance is welcome)
- Trying a Jack to USB-c (tricky but that might work)

To the specialists here, when streaming through OTG cable, is the signal sent Analog or Digital?
If digital, what are the benefits over Bluetooth? As the SR15 Dacs will be bypassed in either case (OTG and Bluetooth)..

Possibly not
Just tried a different set of headphones and same thing - not right channel volume
But there is a fraction of a second of volume on the right channel
If you hit pause there is about a second delay followed by a quite audible click in the right channel
Then hit play - momentary burst of right volume and kaput

Of course with two sets this doesn't seem right - tried a few times reseating them to ensure snug fit - all to no avail

USB compatibility of SR15 using audioquest Dragontail OTG adapter, both in and out is very bad in my experience. I compared it to SA700, AP80Pro, iPhone. It works in some DACs, but some DAC recognizes but doesn’t sound, some DAC works if you half pull out the connector. And what is really bad was If you play from Audirvāna from Mac to SR15 (yeah, to use SR15 as a DAC), both Audirvāna and SR15 hangs up. (Apple Music works.)

DACs used were Schiit Wyrd + Gungnir gen5 USB, Schiit Modi Multibit, Schiit Fulla2, and Mojo.

Bluetooth sounds bad but if you can use network receiver like raspberry pi with Volumio, you can stream from SR15 via wifi.

The Android 5 limitation is starting to become a significant issue with this DAP now that both Tidal and Qobuz require Android 6. I suspect we are well past any support from A&K, but I really like the small form factor. @JasonNYC - is there any hope for future updates?

I run an old DAP Pioneer XDP-02u which is NOT based on Android but on Linux with the offline tidal feature and working with no probs. Every time I notice here from this forum that AK has changed its Tidal UI the Pioneer indeed gets an ota update and voilà, Tidal is working again. They do more for 3rd party Mfr than for their own gear!!

You’ll be waiting a while on a reply ,they have your money now so tough . The SR15 has been the worst audio experience I’ve ever had wouldn’t buy another A&K product.

Unfortunately, probably will not see any Android OS update on the SR15 as it is already 4+ years old and has been replaced by the SR25 and SR25 MKII.

There are a few future firmware updates expected for bug fixes, etc.

That's unfortunate. Mine is only 2 years old, BTW. Obviously it wouldn't matter if it supported current apps. It still doesn't have Roon either which is why I bought it in the first place... Lesson learned.

Anyone know now at this late stage about charging this thing ? I have had it a year and its very fussy about charging from my mac USB port as it only seems to work with a few of the 2 million usb / micro usb cables I have ... my question is can I charge it off a standard usb mains plug adaptor or even my battery power pack ? I know looking at this forum and the instructions it seems to imply just use their cable and minimal power input.....
