Contact akg to swap out the headband.

And yes, the Annie is warmer, so definitely don't get it if you don't want more warmth than the Qs.

For the AE the price difference between US and EU is quite stark: ca. 570€ vs. < 400$. Quite interesting for something produced in Europe, isn't it? Based upon that difference the K712 might sell much cheaper in the US soon.

Btw.: the linked article AKG is stated with a release date of May 2013 for the K712... so we'll find out soon I guess. Will keep the AE though, I don't expect many changes...

Why not for free

I'd say 444,- is a good price and its definitely worth it. Where did you see them on offer? Might be an interesting entry for the EU Deals thread http://www.head-fi.org/t/530008/the-eu-deals-thread
I paid more than that and its still worth it to me...

For 500 € or so, you're well into vintage electrostat territory. High-end vintage orthos, too. Stiff competition.

In any case, the place is there. They don't ship abroad, though, I don't think.

I bought my anniversaries from St. Paul's sound for €395 shipping included (hifiexpo 2012 discount). I think Blackmore and few others contacted St. Paul's and they were willing to ship abroad. The shipping was, however, really expensive (like €50 or so).

St.Pauls guys are very friendly and willing to ship within EU, just send them an e-mail and ask what they can do for you. To my place shipping was EUR 50 and I found it to high, however I am not sure how things work in Finland, differ country differ ways of delivery, maybe they have to use reindeer in some areas:)

I would suggest to get pads instead and try if you like the sound, but I can only reffer to original K702 as I didnt try other K... models with them.

Regarding the cost of shipping - when you have a country of five million, you have less mail volume, hence less people sharing the cost of transportation, hence you pay more for your shipping.

  1. I have a bit of a mechanical issue with my K702/65.  The small grates on the outside of both ear cups (the ones with the K702 logo on them) are a little loose, and they rattle a bit when I move my head around.  I never had this problem with any of the other K701s or K702s that I had in the past.  I can easily fix this with a bit of Loctite or hot glue or whatever, and it's not a big enough issue that I'd send the headphones back as defective.  But on principle, it irritates me a little that I'd need to fix brand new $400 headphones out of the box.

Anyone else having this annoyance?  It only happens on one of the two grids on my unit -  I even tried swapping sides and it travelled with the grid cover.  I'm probably just going to suck it up and live with it, but knowing that I'm not alone would provide a pleasant feeling.

I ended up deciding to buy my own set of the Annie today from RazorDog since they had the $375 deal still going (which I'm guessing was a good deal?). They better not let me down after all the praise I've read about them!

I bought my first K701 just about exactly 7 years ago on 4/11/06 (which was responsible for sparking all of this headphone madness in the first place), I thought it was funny & interesting that I've circled back around with the Annie 7 years later.

Got mine in today from RazorDog, waiting for me at home atm.  I'd say it's a great price!

So it's less than €300, which is definitely an awesome deal. Here in Finland the standard K702 retail for that. I really hope you guys like how they sound!
