AKG K702 65th Anniversary Edition

Nah, it's less than the Annie's, but because there is no sub bass to even it out, it sticks out like a sore thumb to my ears in comparison. It's not a bassy headphone, but my ears do not enjoy specific mid bass ranges. Funny, as the Pro 900 and XB500 are mid bass monsters, and none bother me.

yeah this what I meant, and the 900 midbass is freaking annoying!

Anybody have any experience with AKG warranty services?

I think it's time to send my AKGs to get the right driver rattle fixed, but I noticed on warranty info page they say:
"This warranty is valid for the original purchaser as the final user only."

I'm just wondering if they're going to grief me over that ^.
I'm the second owner.  I've got copies of the receipt, but they've got the previous owners name on it.  Do you think they will try and use that as an excuse to back out of repairing them?

Maybe I should just sign as the first owner to avoid that potential mess...

What do you think?

If you have the proper serial number, etc, I don't see why they'd give you a hard time. Haven't had to deal with returning a headphone I didn't buy new. Though I very rarely buy used.

Because you get them off amazon and return them within 30 days

So how many people have sold these off now? Seems like only a few people ended up keeping them.

I did end up selling mine, but only to help fund getting an HD800.  I still felt the K702 65th was a decent value at the $375 I got them for and still hold their own at their $500 retail but with less value.  With the HD800 though, I feel little need for other headphones, and especially an x70x would be slightly redundant.

Really, the only reason to sell the Annies is to help fund for flagships, because I feel they will compete or outright best anything that isn't a flagship, except maybe the HE500, which is normally $200-300 more depensing on when/where.

Hell, even against the LCD2, I felt the Annie was almost on the same level, and bested the LCD2 in certain things.

Well I'm sure those that did had zero problems selling them

I don't plan on selling my K702 65th Annies.  After years of using closed studio cans, the light 'clamp' and light weight of the Annies feel wonderful.

As an all-around headphone, they're the best I've heard so far, but the only other comparable open cans I've tested are the AKG K702 and Beyerdynamic DT 880 PRO 250 Ohm.

Been through 3 different DACs (Benchmark DAC1 USB, CEntrance DACmini CX and DACport), settled on the TEAC UD-501, and have been enjoying DSD64, DSD128, DXD, and 24bit/192kHz PCM from 2L and HDtracks on the K702 65th Annies.  Also finding CDs at the local Salvation Army and library is a lot of fun - found many great classical and opera CDs there.  Even listened to some CDs that I haven't listened to in over 10 years - Metallica and Megadeth, and the heavily distorted guitars are very smooth but still with plenty of edge (ie not fatiguing) with the K702 65th Annies.  Techmaster P.E.B.'s Bass Computer 2000 still sounds fresh, with excellent sound quality, and a great tester of soundstage width and depth, and of course low low bass.

I used to complain about too much mid-bass with the Annies, but a good DAC makes all the difference in the world.

I think the AV owners should order the original K-702 pads, this way they will have them both.
