lol now I understand your reply to me in the K712 thread.. XD

And hi guys! Just pulled the trigger on a new pair of Annies last night.
Grabbed em for $400 new at razor dog audio :D

My source equipment isnt great so far but I think its sufficient. Currently have a cheapo Bravo V2 amp and a Modi/Magni stack incoming.

If anyone is running an ASUS Essence STX, I found an amazing combination of op-amps for the K702 65 Annie.

2x OPA627BM (4 required since they are single channel) in the I/V section, and a single AD8066AR in the buffer. The OPA627BM provides an incredibly balanced sound, and then when you send the signal through the AD8066AR buffer, the low-end (especially the sub bass) is significantly improved.

  It came today :D

Some quick shots using my desk + the box as background lol.

Cool.

It's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like your pair might be using the deeper pads that the K712 has.

Hm... that would be interesting. Could you measure how deep your K712 pads are? Measuring just the height of the velour from the outside, mine seems to be 25mm high/deep.

And the serial is 54xx so its a pretty late model.

Reading around in this thread I wanted to confirm. Q701 + 5021871(memory foam) pads = Annie? I find the Q701 is lacking in bass a bit for me, and the highs and mids do get fatiguing after a while, this seems like a perfect solution.

Have you tried another amp or DAC? Maybe it's not the headphones fault. Q701 should never be too fatiguing.

According to two people the Q701 + Annie pads is 99% the Anniversary. I have taken this with a grain of salt and i'm sure it's true. I haven't heard the Annie myself but did have the Q701 + Annie pads.
My guess is that to get them to be 100% the same you would need to remove the Q701s outer foam. Probably going to not be very audible.

IMO the Annie is more forward sounding than the Q701. Maybe not in the treble but definitely in the low mids.

Maybe I worded that a bit wrong. The treble sometimes can get...Intense. I'd appreciate some more weight in the lower ends, but if the pads don't create that much of a difference then I might not bother.

I'm in the club and I love them.

Only thing is my left cap is a little loose, and I don't know which amp to buy.  I should stay conservative on pricing, under 50-100 would be best, but I might get crazy and go higher.  Any recommendations in each price range?  I'm planning to use them mostly for audio editing and mixing, with some portable use (though now I'm looking for a good closed can for travel and field recording)...

Recommendations appreciated!

Thanks Mad Lust Envy, any other higher end recommendations?  The only thing is it seems it might be a shame to buy an amp that only has one output, since it might be good to plug in extra headphones if I am working on a project I would like someone else to hear.

I am curious, since I'm still in amazon trial period, about the main differences between the annie and the 712.  I know Chicolm mentioned a few things, but I had trouble understanding the bigger picture?  Any specific thoughts/argument of differences and or thoughts that might help me figure out if I made the right choice?
