7 drum hits -> What do you hear?

I remember this old thread.

With my new rig of onboard sound -> Sherwood S-7120A -> Stax SR-5 it's near perfect. Much better sounding and much cheaper than my PRO2900 rig I had before even when I was only using the Essence card. The onboard sound messes with the timbre of the drums, but the staging comes in fine. Should be great once I get a good DAC in the chain.

Just tested it again with HE-400, still get the first picture.  I think every headphone will get the first picture unless a crossfeed or some kind of hrtf filter is applied to the signal, since the first and last drum hits are one channel only, they will always sound extreme compared to the ones that aren't one channel only.

I hear somewhere in-between the two; neither is extremely "wide" in spacing (that's due to how my speakers are placed - I know), but it's not all bunched up at the middle - very coherent and evenly spaced. You don't want to know what speakers I'm using.

Also, unrelated, I was expecting it to be faster. I don't know why.
