Where can I find 3-inch round replacement earpads?

My Audio-Technica ATH-7 Headphones have been sitting idle for years because the "pleather" earpads rotted out and disappeared a long time ago. They take 3-inch round earpads, but I cannot find replacement earpads listed by size anywhere. They only seem to list them as replacements for...

    Sennheiser HD414 pads

Hello,   I might be getting some Sennheiser HD414 pads for my Grado SR80s. My SR80s are the older ones, not the new ''i'' versions.   Will these Sennheiser pads work OK with my SR80s?   Regards.

What are the best headphones for under $30?

I am going to be building my own pair of Sound Isolating headphones using earmuffs, so all I care about is sound quality, not so much durability of the headband, or comfort, or anything similar. So what is the best sounding pair of headphones I know of for $30 or less?

    Velodyne vFree Impressions

So, a lot of lucky head-fiers on the ball in the Deals Discussion thread were treated to a free set of Velodyne headphones as part of a CES promotion.   Velodyne made good on the promise, and cans have been showing up on doorsteps over the last couple of weeks.  Seemingly in a wave from NA...

    Grado SR-80i Earpad alternatives?

Hi all,   First post to a great site :)   What I wanted to know was if anyone knows any alternative pads to use with the Grado SR-80i ?   I really love the sound, but the pads it comes with are not to my liking so any advice would be great.   Cheers Guys

    Custom earcup question?

Hey ya'll. This might be a stupid question, but where do you get slip-on housings? Do you make 'em yourself or do you buy them somewhere? If it helps, it'd be for the SR60i.

    Difference on Pads for SR80i?

Just picked up a pair of SR 80i's - should I stick with the stock pads or go to something else? I see a lot of people using sennheiser pads, but I want the best performance out of these cans. The stock flat foam pads actually are pretty comfortable, so I dont have any issues with that currently.

    Does anyone collect vintage cans?

Hi y'all, Just to start off, i've gotta say that i'm no audiophile nor headphile but I've just got a nitch for headphones (although it's clear that they sound better than most earphones IMO). Anyway I'm a collector and i'm thinking of holding off my present collecting focus for the time...

Sennheiser HD600 - Did I do the right thing ?

I have been reading the head-fi forums for a number of weeks trying to decide which set of headphones to purchase between the HD598, HD600 and HD650. I have been listening for a number of years with an anniversary model of the HD414's.   I FINALLY jumped today on the HD600's when Amazon had...

Has anyone ever had/seen these headphones? (Senn HD424X)

Anyone remember these 'cans? My dad threw his out a few years ago because of deteriorating earpads.

    KSC75 with headband mod?

I did the headband mod to the KSC75 and have a couple of questions.  The headband is super light and was very easy to do but now I am finding the slight sound pressure directly in my ear to be too much.  Has anyone else had an issue with this after the headband mod?  What I was considering was...

    Your Favorite Cans

I'm looking around for some new Cans, I just want to know what you like and also include why you like them the best.   Personal pics get extra points!     My Grado SR80i I got them as my first HIFI cans and can't love them enough. You can see I have Senn HD414 earpads that are not...

    Grado Ear Cushions

I realize this topic has been presented previously... but, with all the current interest in Grados by "nubees"... I thought it might deserve a "reprise." I read in a much earlier post(s) that you could increase the comfort of Grados headphones and tame their highs a bit by several...

    Grado Newbie- Please Help?

After putting it off, I finally want to try some Grados. First and most importantly, which pads are the most comfortable and which sound the best? Also would you prefer the SR-80is or MS1is?

    Sennheiser HD 414 Originals?

Are these original Sennheiser HD 414's? Are they of any monetary value as collector cans? How is the sound from these ancient phones? What is their current market value?

    Grado SR60i lack of treble!

Hi,   I finally decided myself to bought the Grado SR60i after all the great comments I read about them. I already have a few pairs of good headphones, but I wanted to try this "legendary" model.   I have to admit they are good and fun sounding headphones, especially in the midrange and...

    Open-air and the great outdoors

Just a question to all of you using open earpad/full-sizers outdoors... How do you cope with the noise other than turning up the volume? Sheer mind power? I want to get a PortaPro, such a legend this phone. But being open foam pads... I'm guessing that the HD414 pads that I will be picking up...

    Upgrade from my modded portapro's

Okay, I started off with Maximo iM-590's and I loved the bass heavy sound sig. Then, i moved on to stock portapro's and I loved the more open yet still aggressive sound. Then, I modified my Portapro's and this is the soundsig that I have enjoyed the most. The main thing I changed was adding some...

first post - "retro tech" - High Impedance - vintage - DIY Tube

Hi, just joined. Interested in older high impedance retro phones for direct connection to old pro, tube reel to reel "monitor out" jacks (typ.2 L/R mono) and other similar sorts of things. Highest I have found  in dynamic are  2000 ohm Sennheiser hd 414. Anyone tried DIY piezo or other...

    Yamaha YH-3 Re-Cable

Hey there folks,   I return back onto the subject of my beloved pair of YH-3 cans. My question is on re-cabling the headphones. After years of love and abuse (they were used in radio stations for years, and the cable has seen its fair share of the crushing force a chair legs) the left...

Modern/Alternative Rock And The Grado Sound

I am not in a situation where it is easy for me to demo these headphones (no stores in a 50 miles radius carry them) and thus rely heavily on user reviews. I've been researching the SR-225i, RS2i, and RS1i and the general consensus seems to be that the Grado sound + classic rock = Epic ****ing...

    Alessandro MS-1 Pads

So I'm looking for alternative pads for my MS-1. Right now I just have the Grado comfies, but the comfies cause discomfort after prolonged use (~30-45min) due to them pushing on my glasses. So I'm looking at switching over to either Grado bowls or the HD414 pads. Are there any other...

    Interesting S-CUSH discovery; soft mini-bowls?

I don't listen to my SR-60's much, but they've become a hobby mod project of sorts for me.  I've been trying to come up with alternative pad solutions that worked (without tracking down 50 dollars worth of back ordered foam).  After trying to construct several of my own pads, and transplant...
