Poll: What's your pad of choice with a stock Grado or Alessandro?

While I wait for my incoming ms-1i, back in the day, headfiers were pretty happy with the TTVJ flats. There were lots of Grado mods, but those were very popular more or less across the board for stock Grado/Alessandros. Times have changed though, maybe having something to do with the i updates...

Taking Koss Portapro to the Limit (cool mods).

This is not a step by step guide but a collection of mods floating around head-fi tweaked for my own needs and taste. Some might find my impressions useful and get encouraged to perform their own. The thing is that the portapro driver is awesome, but it can do much better if modded. Most ppl...

    Headphone and portable amp question...

Hello, this is my first post so I will straight up apolagise if I haven't done something right. I currently have some <£30/<$35 on ear headphones which I'd like to uprade, except when I plug them straight into my iPod the sound is good but not great (reason for uprade), yet when I dock my iPod...

    eBay + SR60's = A newly converted Audiophile...

Hello peeps, thought I'd use my first post to introduce myself.   I'm from across the pond (UK) and have just won myself a nice pair of Grado SR60s on eBay to replace my broken Senn HD212's - Bit of an upgrade, you might say.   I've been intruiged by all the modding that goes on with...

    as comfortable as Sennheiser HD414?

I have two pairs of Sennheiser HD414's: a pair from 1974, and the reissue from later. For me, they are the ultimate in comfort: very little tension in the headband, and flat breathing earpads with no circumaural anything. I used to wear them for 6-8 hours at a stretch in college while doing...

    confusion about grado pads

I know this might be a dumb question, but I know I am not the only one that has thought it before. I have the original Grado SR-80's and here are the pads that seem to be an option from Grado: S-cushion L-cushion (bowls that came with mine) Comfort Rings G-cushion   Where I get confused...

    Dynatron - SP5, Replacement Pads

Hi all, I hope you can help, I have some really old, (but I still like the way they sound) wait for it, Dynatron SP5's and I'm wondering if there is a more robust but still comfortable replacement "Earpads" the originals were a green foam but the pads for Grado SR60's are a near perfect fit with...

    Ouch my Grado's

So I have my first pair of Grado's (RS2i's) loving the sound they produce but.........could they have made these headphones any more uncomfortable if they had tried ?   After 1 - 2 hours of listening the edge of my ears feel like they are on fire !!   Is this a common problem or is my...

    Grado HD414 pad mod??

Does the HD414 mod change the sound of the Grado's compared to the comfy and bowl pads? Or does it just make it more comfy than either one? Or is it just a cheaper alternative? I've noticed alot of people use the HD414 mod, and my 7 year old SR60's do need a new pad and like the bright yellow color!

    Porta pro question

Is there a way to get leather ear pads on them? Which ones are the most compatible? I've never been a fan of foam earpads.

Preferred mod for Sennheiser HD414 Pads on MS-1's?

I've been searching for what pads to get for my MS-1i's, and I finally got the HD414 pads.  After listening to the stock comfies, I realized the HD414 were an AMAZING upgrade. Even after my massive eargasm, I kinda still want to experiment with these Senn pads to see if they can sound...

$300 Cans for an extremely broad musical taste.

Hello Head-fi, the cash is in and I'm looking to spend $300USD on some cans to last for a good while.  To start, they will be amped from a NAD 7220PE where the headphone amp section specs are: "Output impedance:  220ohms Maximum output level: .10V into 600ohms >500mV into 8ohms"  That...

    Beyer DT302, any impressions?

Those are vintage phones from the 70's. Does anyone know how they sound? Especially in comparison to HD414? Thanks!

    AKG K4 electret/dynamic classic PICS

AKG K4 Not much has been written about the fascinating electret/dynamic AKG K4, so I thought I’d share some of my findings.     First off, this is quite an engineering feat. This headphone was introduced in 1983, I think, and of course it appeared in the wake of the Sennheiser...

    414 pads with Grados

I've been trying the yellow Sennheiser pads with my HF2's (no qtr mod, just stock).  With bowls, I think the HF2's are a hair too bright, so I'd EQ them, and bowls don't work with my ears for comfort anyway.  Comfies are the most comfortable, but the bass is increased so I'd have to EQ there...

    Overkill ?

I have a pair of Sennie HD414s that I hardly use because my Copland csa-14 doesn't have a headphone socket. I have been offered a MF X-can v3 for $150 (100 quid) is this overkill? If I go with it I could always upgrade the phones later I suppose.

    Comfortable Grado Earpads?

Hey fellas, I just picked up a pair of Grado SR60's and they are great except the earpads are like sandpaper on my ears. Are there more comfortable aftermarket pads out there; maybe leather covered pads or less rough foam pads. Thanks,
