    AKG Q701 For treble sensitivity?

I purchased the AKG K240, and I found with my current amp and DAC setup (Fiio E09k and E07K), the K240's spiky treble in the 10K htz region has been giving me inner ear pain, and the same has been happening with my Beyer DT880s. I have not had this issue with my Sennheiser HD518s.    I was...

    I NEED clarity for <$100

I'm gonna make this short and simple: Don't care for noise cancellation and such. I'll be using these almost 100% in my quiet house <$100 is best. I'm not an audiophile so I don't want to get sucked into the money-melting audiophile world quite yet. Music I listen to: Orchestral, Jpop(J...

Sennheiser HD 518 vs HD 558?

Right now I can get an HD 518 for about $80. HD 558 is pretty much double the price on Amazon. I read though that the bass is heavier on the HD 518, and the HD 558 is mainly a balanced, clear sound. Is this true? I prefer a balanced sound, most of my music is metal. So I dont like extra bass.

Going from 3.5mm to 1/4 amp

I have an Astro mixamp, and am wondering if there is an amp I could use after the mixamp that would step up from the 3.5mm pole to the 1/4 inch pole for the new head phones I might be buying (HD 598.)   I have no knowledge of amps so this will be the first one I might buy. Is going to be used...

    Finding actual value of headphones?

What's the best way to find a typical median value for headphones?  For example I just bought a pair of vpulse for $30 but according to the manufacturer they sell for $100 normally.   Sure there was a coupon but, do some companies intentionally jack prices up so when they have sales they look...

Best Open cans for The Beatles?

I've seen suggestions for the Grado SR225i but not to go any higher since the tracks are so old and only remastered. I've got a good collection of remastered Beatles cd's and I want to do them justice. Price range is around $200-$250,new or used. Source would be an Onkyo disk player and the...

Need something to drive my HD-518 please

I know these are not the optimal pair of cans. The bass is a little heavy. I think my little cheapo dac is not enough to bring these to their full potential though. Sennheiser HD518 + Audinst HUD mini vs Sennheiser HD650 + Audinst HUD mini

I currently have Audinst HUD mini dac/amp. it drives low impedence headphones like hd518 well. As its a USB powered device without a wall plug, I believe its not a very powerful amp. Maybe something like FiioE10.   I plan to upgrade to HD650 or perhaps AKG Q701. I understand HD650 needs lots...
