What's the best way to find a typical median value for headphones?  For example I just bought a pair of vpulse for $30 but according to the manufacturer they sell for $100 normally.   Sure there was a coupon but, do some companies intentionally jack prices up so when they have sales they look like better bargains?   Also I'm looking at maybe getting a pair of HD 518 but they are like $40 cheaper on amazon than directly from Sennheiser.   Why do headphone prices seem to be all over the place?

If you want to derive a "median value", Google search and compare prices yourself.  Don't forget to take into account whether they are brand new headphones or used, or refurbs, etc.
