    Value & Performance Headset

I like the M50s for music but not so much for gaming, the soundstage is too compressed.  Be a good chap and test this new 7H headset for us and write up a review.

    ATH-AD700 best <$100 choice?

Bass is present but without impact. Comfort is second to none. AD700s can be pushed easily with any source but bass can come out with an amp of some sort.

If you are wanting hard hitting bass then get another can, the HD650 won't be able to provide it. Quote: Originally Posted by donunus I should have just said a good balanced amp for the 650s to get them to a higher level. It will get more prat but it probably still wont get much...

JVC HA-RX900 modifications, a picture tutorial. (56k, forget about it...)

The pics are up. I wouldn't peel away the felt if you keep the acoustic lens attached as it maintains a certain space. If you remove the felt or peel away layers the acoustic lens collapses against the driver cover.

Upgrade from Senn 650 to what? For music...

I suggested a proper amp because you already have one of the premier cans in today's market, the HD650. I run my HD650 from a LD MK VI. From the other companies you listed I have the Grado 325, AKG K701, Denon D2000 and I find neither one of them to be "upgrades" but rather a different sound...

Driver unit size on Sony MDRXB300/ MDRXB500/ MDRXB700.

I thought my XB700 was decent for gaming but it lacks significant soundstage. I didn't find the bass too excessive but the cans are excellent for the music you listed. Get the XB700 if you want that extra low rumble.

I don't like my M50s for gaming, the soundstage is rather small. I do like my AHD2000 with the MixAmp and your starting budget accommodates them. I only usually use them for single player games such as GTA4, in which they sound incredible, especially with the game's soundtrack. Impressive...

    denon 1000 vs technics dh1200???

I still use the DH1200 for DJ gigs but I wouldn't use them for listening enjoyment. They're a bit heavy and good for beatmatching but they lack musicality. However, if your first concern is DJ style looks then I'd suggest the A&H XD53. They were my favorite DJ can until a pig vomit rat person...

Ha, still having trouble deciding? I guess the ATH-M50 doesn't suit your needs? You can surely bring the Denon D1001 into the mix now with that budget increase. I sold mine a while back but I saw a set at the studios. I remember how well they performed for music but I'll have to "acquire" it...

Yes, you need that y-adapter for audio/chat mixing and unfortunately Astro eliminated it from the bundle to cut costs. On their website it says nothing of being out of stock and I personally had no luck finding a 4-pole y-adapter from a 3rd party
