Which Headphones is good to Nightwish?
Grados all the way for me. Especially the newer material is so compressed that the extra dynamics from Grado are very welcome.- McRat

a "final" TT for me for the cost of a Rega P3? (no more upgrades!)

Which headphone was your "best bang for the buck?"
Most of the cans I've had in my possession have been good deals, but the best are the ones I'm stuck with: HF-1 for $200 new and HD580 €80 slightly used. They both are excellent value for money.- McRat

Matching amp or cd to Grados/HD600
It seems our good Dr. Meier at Meier-Audio has a sale at the moment. How about one of these amps to do most of the business? They all from HA-2 Mk II and up can be used as a preamp. Just add a good budget cd-player from the likes of NAD or Cambridge Audio or buy one used and you'll be all set.- McRat

Matching amp or cd to Grados/HD600
I don't think you can find a decent enough headphone output in a cd-player. I would go with a good cdp and a separate headphone amp with preamp functionality. I leave the naming of the possible contenders to the more experienced members...- McRat

An evening with the HeadFive
I too found the Headfive to be a great match for HD580, as well as HF-1. This is from my Chaintech soundcard.- McRat

HD570 broken channel? (help!)
I really don't think the HD570 is worth recabling with anything exotic (and pricey). Of course a low-cost DIY replacement cable is something to think about, as the mini-plug connector makes it quite an easy task for just about anyone.- McRat

Sennheiser Canada should be able to send you the cable or at least forward your request to a reseller. Have you called them yet? Here's the toll free number: (800) 463-1006- McRat

NEW CORDA HEADFIVE: A New Amp to Celebrate Head-Fi's Fifth Anniversary!
My amp has been shipped today, so I should receive it in a week or so. I just couldn't pass on this chance to get one of Dr. Meiers amps for a very good price. =) I'm hoping it pairs well with my HF-1, although the DT880 is more in need of a matching amp. It's more than likely that I will be...- McRat

Best headphone purchase, worst headphone purchase you have made
Worst would have to be my first "real" headphones, the HD570. Though I've gotten much joy outta them (before finding this place), I really paid too much for that awful sound quality. The only good things are the unmatched comfort and the fact that they fit my small kids' heads so well. Close...- McRat

Sound quality this good at such a low price should be illegal!
I've had my PX-100 for about 2 years and I'm still enjoying them greatly. I prefer them to the KSC75 and PortaPro. Mine are the old, orange-boxed version and I haven't heard the other versions.- McRat

PX100 vs KSC75, and some questions
I have both PX100 (2 years old) and KSC75, and I prefer the PX100 by far. For me the PX100 is much more comfortable and also has a better sound. My wife likes the KSC75 though when she goes running.- McRat

Poll: Allesandro MS-2i vs Grado SR 325i
I have to say as an (ex-)drummer, I've never heard drums being portrayed more realistically than with the SR325i in my current rig. Cymbals really sound like a metal plate is being hit with a wooden stick instead of some tin foil flapping in the wind or something unrealistically polite crap like...- McRat
