For the best isolation I would go with IEMs, for outside use I prefer my Shure E4C over most closed back headphones I've had.

All the metal links for the headphone cup really accentuates its classy look.

A lot of people think the HD650 has muddier bass, I used to think that too back when I used to have tube amps - ever since I got a high quality SS amp (headroom max) the bass really tightens up and I can see why the HD650 was Senn's flagship for almost 10 years after replacing the HD600.   - FW

Indeed strange. I wouldn't say, must be nuts, as RS1, MS Pro & alike all run without sound chambers. Maybe it works with a small Grado, but definetely not with a MS1.

What about all the external USB DAC options?

USB is going to be the way of the DAC future imo, coax has impedance problems and toslink has attenuation and reflection issues. Of course implementation is what really matters but USB has great potential imo.

In my experience rock music always sounds great on apple products so something like the nano would be a good choice.   -FW

Mine has the max DAC and stepped pot, best SS amp I've ever heard. =)

I got mine about a year ago and couldn't be happier with its sound. The thing that struck me is how big the amp is, it fits a full rack and weight about 20 pounds. It sounds the part too, my HD650 never sounded so good. =)

I think extended editions are more faithful to the book which is what I prefer. =)
