Shure E2c or some other portables?
Well, my portapros finally bit the dust, so I'm in search of a new pair or portable 'phones. I have to admit I haven't been spending as much time at Head-fi as I used to, so I'm not up to date on the more recently released stuff. I liked the sound of the portapros but not the looks Plus, I'd...- dcg

Philips 963sa reliability concerns
My old dvd player is finally dying on me and it's time for a replacement. I know the 963sa has gotten great reviews, but I just took a look over at audioreview and there were a few people who had problems with these units going bad after a week or so and getting poor support from Philips. Is...- dcg

Buying a car - Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V
Well, the old '89 Mustang is finally just about dead, and I need reliable transportation to get to and from work. I started off looking at used cars, but I don't really have money for a down payment and I can lease the sentra for 3 years for about $300 a month (4.9% interest rate, 0 down). Or I...- dcg

Does anyone know anything about carpal tunnel syndrome?
I have to type all day at work and I'm starting to get pain in my hands. Howver, I tried to do a bit of research on CTS and it seems that it occurs in the area of the thumb and index/middle fingers whereas my trouble is in the pinky fingers, actually the knickles of those fingers to be precise...- dcg

Monster Cable HTS2000 - opinions?
Well, I'm about out of outlets on my Panamax Max 1000+ power conditioner, and I need an INEXPENSIVE surge supressor for the rest of my stuff. It looks like the HTS2000 can be had online for under $110 (plus the requisite $16.00 for ground shipping ). Anyway, that brings the total to about $125...- dcg

Best free email service?
The folks at G-town let us keep our school email addy's after we graduate but they have to be forwarded to another address. So, in the next few days I need to pick one. Should I just grab a yahoo or hotmail address or is there something else I should consider?- dcg

Anybody ever dealt with UPS damage claims?
The morons damaged my Axiom VP150 center channel. There's a dent on one corner of the enclosure and 3 of the four places the grill connects to the speakers are broken, with little bits of plastic from the connectors floating around amidst the delicate tweeters! So, anyone know how long this...- dcg

Well, KEF are certainly a bunch of wankers......
I went a bit overboard a few months ago with Telarc's "The Big Picture" cd and blew out a mid on one of my Kef Coda 9s. Not great speakers by any stretch, but still it sucked. I bought these speakers from Bryn Mawr stereo (now Tweeter) a few years ago, and of course they no longer carry Kef...- dcg

dcg needs a car
OK, I graduate in a month and the car I've been driving is kind of a POS. Basically, I'm worried about the reliability. I guess I could get a couple grand for it. So, the question is, should I get a used car, or finance a new one? In addition to the $2k or so I'd get from selling the old car...- dcg

Explain your custom title

Need a power cord for Cambridge D500SE
The stock cord for this player doesn't seem to work very well. It never seems like it's pushed in securely, and when I move the unit it often shuts off. Thus, I'm looking for a replacement cord. $50 max. I've heard good things about the Absolute power cord, but can I do just as well with a...- dcg

any mountain bikers here?
I've decided that I need a bike. I'd prefer a mountain bike, but a good portion of the riding will probably be on-road. I really know nothing about bikes, so if anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them. Is there anything good in the $5-$600 range? I'm about 6" tall and 165 lbs., if...- dcg

Pet Peeves
O.K., someone just called my apartment. The phone rings four times, and the answering machine picks up. You have the WHOLE RECORDING to hang up if you don't...- dcg

"Gold-plated RCA jacks" - Why gold?
I've been wondering about this for a while now. Why is it that if most cables are made of copper, as is the inernal wiring of most audio components, that gold plating is preferred on the connections? Isn't silver the most conductive metal? If so, why pay extra for gold? I call ********.- dcg

Which web browser are you using? And what's wrong w/ my IE?
A few days ago internet explorer started freezing on me whenever I would check my email. It would only freeze the one window, others would be unaffected. The task manager says that it's running, so I'm not getting a "not responding" message. The problem seems to occur whenever I click a link...- dcg
