SOHA II - Super SE Hybrid
This sounds like an awesome design with alot of options. I especially like the tube-rolling ability. I'll be on the look-out for a group buy, unless you need another prototyper I'm in-between projects and quite bored. So bored, that I have started doing things around the house before my wife...- djbob

headfi convert, headphones for $200-300
I own both the Ad700 and K701. I really like my AD700s, but after purchasing the K701's the Ad700s don't get much use. The K701s just do everything better. Both are very comfortable and have similiar sound characteristics - light, airy, wide soundstage. If you're after really strong bass though...- djbob

To buy a hd650 or k701 when I have the AT AD2000
donunus, I say go for the K701s. I spent the last few weeks reading everything I could on these phones, and many others. As you know, there are a ton of conflicting opinions on each and every HP but I decided to just try the K701s for myself. I'm extremely happy that I did. To me (uh oh...- djbob

New Millett Hybrid Maxed Amp
I was getting ready to order parts for my 2nd Max build and realized that Hi-Temp Radial Electrolytic Capacitors 25V 47uF 105C (for CM1) at Mouser are on backorder. Can anyone tell me of a suitable replacement for this cap? Could I use the 33uf with no adverse effects? I'd really hate to have to...- djbob

Be Careful what questions you ask this guy...
On the advice of TomB I was looking for a set of 12fm6 tubes, so I checked ebay. Found a seller and simply asked, "Are the tubes the same brand? Which brand? Are they side or top getters?" Here is the reply I received (I found it rather amusing) "YES THESE ARE 7 PIN TESTED TUBES,A PAIR OF...- djbob

Millett Max Hybrid Owners - Which phones do you use?
I'm curious as to the DT880. I had all but written these off as a choice b/c of numerous posts complaining of shrill highs and sibilance. Does the warmth of the MMH correct these "problems"? I also use the 12AE6 with MuseES and VitQ bypass. I'd be interested in hearing more on this synergy- djbob

Millett Max Hybrid Owners - Which phones do you use?
Thanks for the info. on the D2000, Pabbi1. I have greatly considered this model based on the fanfare that it has received here on Head-fi, but I couldn't justify spending $200+ on the phones and then having to mod them to get optimal sound. I also recall reading something about the D2000s not...- djbob

Millett Max Hybrid Owners - Which phones do you use?
Congratulations! and Good luck on those 701s. That's one of the phones I'm seriously considering. Also the DT880s and D2000s. I have no way to sample any of them, so I'm having to rely on the advice of others. Hopefully I'll have an epiphany and decide. If not, I'll probably just flip a coin.- djbob

Millett Max Hybrid Owners - Which phones do you use?
Not a poll, per se, just wanted to see what Headphones other MMH owners are using and get their opinions/thoughts/recommendations on good matches for this terrific DIY Amp. I do plan to upgrade phones soon. My Ad700s sound pretty good, but I'm searching for the next level- djbob

Hi. Im also New. Help me please? CMoy kit distributors welcome.
Try JDS Labs I've built a couple and they sound very good. The parts are easy to source and it's a relatively easy build for a beginner. All through hole - no SMD, socketed op amp, bass boost feature, and very reasonable cost. Also, John is a great guy to deal with. I haven't personally built...- djbob

Post pics of your builds....
After seeing all of the great builds in this thread I almost feel foolish posting my builds. But since I'm new to Amp building I'm still quite proud of my accomplishments. I built my first Cmoy 8 weeks ago and since then have completed those pictured, as well as another Mini^3 and JDS Cmoy not...- djbob

Mini3 assistance needed
Just completed (thought so, anyway) my Mini3 build. Passed sanity check and seemingly all other checks per AMB website. With phones connected I have sound in both channels, however, I'm getting a "scratchy" type of distortion. It' not horrible but it is definitely not tolerable. I've reflowed...- djbob

Mini3 and Tenergy battery
I'm at the end of my Mini3 build and purchased a Tenergy battery to use. With the battery contacts filed down to correct size the battery is still too tight to fit. The outer plastic (the Tenergy label) tore so I completely removed it. Underneath that was another clear plastic wrap around the...- djbob

very thick front panel, pot shaft extensions - where to buy etc?
No need for a pilot hole or stepping from various sizes. Just use the bit size that you require. I suggest that you cover the area to be drilled with masking tape. This will help keep splintering to a minimum. Good luck.- djbob
