I'm curious as to the DT880. I had all but written these off as a choice b/c of numerous posts complaining of shrill highs and sibilance. Does the warmth of the MMH correct these "problems"? I also use the 12AE6 with MuseES and VitQ bypass. I'd be interested in hearing more on this synergy

Congratulations! and Good luck on those 701s. That's one of the phones I'm seriously considering. Also the DT880s and D2000s. I have no way to sample any of them, so I'm having to rely on the advice of others. Hopefully I'll have an epiphany and decide. If not, I'll probably just flip a coin.

No need for a pilot hole or stepping from various sizes. Just use the bit size that you require. I suggest that you cover the area to be drilled with masking tape. This will help keep splintering to a minimum. Good luck.
