Not a poll, per se, just wanted to see what Headphones other MMH owners are using and get their opinions/thoughts/recommendations on good matches for this terrific DIY Amp. I do plan to upgrade phones soon. My Ad700s sound pretty good, but I'm searching for the next level

Congratulations! and Good luck on those 701s. That's one of the phones I'm seriously considering. Also the DT880s and D2000s. I have no way to sample any of them, so I'm having to rely on the advice of others. Hopefully I'll have an epiphany and decide. If not, I'll probably just flip a coin.

I use K701s (although I prefer my bada ph-12 for those more), 325is, and AD2K (need gilmore lite!)

Well, I do know for sure that quite a few people that have built Maxes have used HD580s, beyond that, I'm not sure.. they definitely do sound good though!

K501, HD580 & K701 all sound pretty good on mine.

After a little research, and the responses so far, I'm probably going to order the K701s this weekend. Unless someone can convince me otherwise?

My implementation is a bit different, but I use the HD650 exclusively... on single ended, I used the HD600. I tried the D2000 balanced, and just couldn't recommend that at all.

Thanks for the info. on the D2000, Pabbi1. I have greatly considered this model based on the fanfare that it has received here on Head-fi, but I couldn't justify spending $200+ on the phones and then having to mod them to get optimal sound. I also recall reading something about the D2000s not being very compatible with tube amps.

I'm going to mark the D2000 off my list. K701's are still at the top but I have a few more to check out....K601, HD600 and SR325i

i use hd650 and dt880 2005 on mine. I particularly like the millet max-dt880 synergy.

Dont have a DIY millet max, however i have a Headroom Millett Hybrid and currently using the HD650s with engima oracle cable.

I'm also using dt880s with the 12AE6 tubes. I'd agree this combo has some great synergy.
