Help my brother get the right MP3 for Xmas
Hello Porta-Rig crew I'm pretty clueless on this front, but I drew my brother's name for Xmas and am thinking that he'd like an MP3 player. He's real into burning CDs off the internet so I figure logical next step... We have about a $150 target range on the deal, so it looks like the nice...- Randu

A pair of Senn's to my Audigy2 ?
Quote: Originally posted by lindrone Hmm.. I guess that's true, there's really no headphone available directly at the $300 mark that I'm looking into. However, at $300, that puts me $50 to $80 away from just grabbing an used for a new CD3000. I would much rather have gotten the CD3000...- Randu

A pair of Senn's to my Audigy2 ?
Quote: Originally posted by lindrone Those are some expensive cables.. the truth is, I wouldn't spend money on those cables.. they're another $150 or so on top of the cost of the headphone. They just bring out better characteristic out of the headphone... but once you've spent that much...- Randu

What was your first headphone purchase after coming to Head-Fi?
I waffled around a bit before I pulled the trigger on some: HD590s - Love 'em Then an amp Then a cable Then a player then some interconnects some tubes next...... not to mention a plethora of new music (where's my wallet?!?!) This is a pretty great place- Randu

Compare 2 Headphones for Movie Watching
... thusly named that Trounce is I like my 590s for movies a lot. I did upgrade the cable but they still are very nice without that. I like the open cans so I can hear other things going on, your situation may differ, as Trounce indicated. You should certainly decide whether you want open or...- Randu

HD600 cable upgrades - please help
I have the 590s w/ the Equinox cable and the difference is pretty substantial. The improvement is across the scale, bigger soundstage, cleaner, deeper bass, fullness across the mid-range. I can't say if the Cardas are better than Equinox for the 600s, because I've never heard the Equinox on...- Randu

combo recommandations needed
I'll second the XCans for under 300 US. I have the V2, it matches up real nice with the Senn 600/580 & 590. You can upgrade the power supply for about $15 that will improve the bottom end. If you actually get one, I'll be happy to send you the info on the power supply.- Randu

C222ES or 963SA?
Quote: Originally posted by spaceman Yes, I have always been pretty happy with the sound quality, but the bass is a bit on the thin side, and I would really like a dedicated CD/SACD player instead of the DVD integration. I'll just kick it around for a while and do some research...- Randu

Quality of adapters
What about these guys? Monster Y-Adapter They look pretty solid and the guys on the AVS forum recommended them. I need to split out from the 5.1 R&L Mains on my DVD963SA. I actually need to split it twice, once to go into the DVD in the HT receiver and once to go to the XCans. How... -

Phillips 963sa Headphone Setup
Stevesolo, I know this thread is a bit old, but if you are still looking for a good headphone amp to match up with the 963, I can recommend Musical Fidelity's XCans. I noticed you have Senn HD600s, I know that the XCans works great with those also (I have the 590s). I have read poor remarks...- Randu
