Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

When your $600 product is cheaper and quicker to build than your cheaper products then I can see why people wouldn't want to support that.     It's called competition. The Magni/Modi is the cost that it is because that is close to what the ODAC/Objective2 costs as well as competitors...

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

This is true for everyone and for every business. It justifies nothing.     To be honest once that IEM gets measured you're going to realise that it ain't that great. Knowles ED29689 is used in the Etymotic ER-4 and HF5. The point is that cost of components is clearly way out of line...

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

In the video the cost of the drivers on Digikey/Mouser is listed. It's <$50 in total for a $600 product with a ~1hr build time.

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

Put the SN on the card then. The card is useless and proves nothing. At least then it would prove something. You also don't offer warranty if it's been sold to someone else which is pretty unfair if it is still in the warranty period.     It's still not a good injection mold on a...

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.

My issue is that the volume control is tied to software whether that is an application or OS doesn't matter. Meaning that some random bug doesn't reset the volume and destroy my hearing and IEMs. Creative doesn't have a good history of writing software that isn't buggy either.

NOBLE Savant Thread (Impressions, Reviews, Tours)

Hiding the driver number because you know people will question the price is untrustworthy. The obsession with driver number is not in my opinion a good thing but the answer is not to charge a high price and hide that number. That's scummy practice.   Apple also make high quality...

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.

If the two aren't linked then with high sensitivity IEMs I can adjust OS volume down while leaving the potentiometer on the amp alone. This solves the high sensitivity IEM issue. Secondly, there are digital potentiometers that aren't tied to the OS. For example, the Fiio E17/E17K uses one of...

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.

Creative needs to stop using digital volume control tied to the operating system and I'll explain why.   With high sensitivity headphones you end up with an extremely narrow range of volume to work with. For example, 0/100 is mute and 5/100 may be loud. That means you have 5 different levels...

[TEASER] Massdrop x ??? - New Custom In-Ear Monitor available September

iPhone 6/6+ output impedance is 3Ω   Lyr 2 has an output impedance of 0.3Ω on low gain.   Linum BAX cable has an impedance of 1.5Ω.   That is 1.8Ω with the Lyr 2 and 4.5Ω with the iphone 6/6+.   Can't say how much that would affect frequency response without impedance curve of ei.xx.

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.

E5 is far too large to stick to the back of a phone. I don't think the E5 is really that good unless you are interested in the optical input and bluetooth receiver.   I think the E18 is your better choice. Fiio Q1 is similar and cheaper so I would try that first but the E18 has higher power...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

Give a budget.   Immersive audio is meant to sound realistic. Elevated bass and treble is not that. Sounds like you want something fun which is fine.   Beyerdynamic DT 770 match what you want well.

[TEASER] Massdrop x ??? - New Custom In-Ear Monitor available September

I'd love to see the impedance curve of the ei.xx because it might make this statement even more humorous. If the impedance slopes downwards in the treble then your statement will be objectively wrong.   Quote:   The Linum BAX cable has an impedance of 1.5Ω due to how thin it...

Senheisser HD 558 vs AKG 612 vs Beyerdynamic 990?

AKG K612 need A LOT of power. 0.99mW to reach 90dB SPL.   DT990 will also need an amp.   Sennheiser HD558 is your best option if you aren't buying an amplifier. Philips SHP9500 is also a good option.

Creative Sound blaster E5 - Headphone amp + USB DAC with OTG + Toslink + aptX + recording + more.

The problem is high power output and a short range of movement is a terrible idea. I dread to think what the E1 is like with sensitive IEMs.   The problems with the E1 not recognizing the TRRS mic is an issue. The software failing to install on Windows 10 is an issue.   For the hidden...

    1964 Ears Adel IEMs

1964 Ears really need to release some uncompensated frequency response graphs rather than the laughable block bars they are currently using on their website. That would allow people to make a meaningful choice and not feel burnt like some do in this thread.     They often don't need much...

Here is the UERM plotted against the ei.3. Aligned by me. It can be used as a reference point against the ei.xx     Original post where the UERM and ei.3 weren't aligned at 1Khz.   Measurements taken by piotrus-g at Custom Art.

I'd like to know if the X7 and G5 can work like the Astro Mixamp where they take a Dolby Digital 7.1 signal and then apply virtual surround sound to that multi-channel audio. Would be nice for consoles.   Seems the BlasterX acoustic engine is no longer available to download at blasterx.com  ...
