One other thing, how is the quality of the DAC in these in comparison to similarly budgeted desktop versions like say... the Compass? I think I might be finding the allure of a portable all too powerful and have decided I might just get a D10 or Pico, then use it one of the two as a DAP for...

How much better is the coax or optical for the DAC over USB? Well, if I'm going to be using it for my laptop at all I think that coax or optical isn't really a concern, but I'll probably be using coax/optical for desktop use. If the Pico is more powerful, what's the upper limit of headphones...

Out of curiosity, how does the DAC end and the Amp end of the D10 compare with the Pico? I'm trying to decide which portable is right for me or if I should get a Compass.

    The Compass Thread (New)

I've been trying to deliberate whether the Compass is the perfect choice for me, between it and 2 portable dac/amps (Pico and D10). I originally wanted to grab a dac/amp strictly for home use but all of the sudden I really like the idea of the portable dac/amps to use with my laptop. However, if...

Looking for Advice/Options on PC setup (SoundCard, Headphones, Amp, Receiver)

After a lot of thinking, I found that there was no real need for me to buy a soundcard and that an amp/dac is basically exactly what I need. I could not find any information about my Pioneer receiver so I guess I'll have to leave that alone for now. I've narrowed my choices down to the iBasso...

Should I be more inclined to get the DT880 if I plan on pairing with the D10 or would they also fall into the same category?

Looking for Advice/Options on PC setup (SoundCard, Headphones, Amp, Receiver)

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm very interested in the Xonar but it doesn't seem like an option for me if I want to keep using my Logitech Z-5300e's on my PC, which I use for when I'm not listening to music (need to be plugged in by 3.5mm). Are there any alternatives that would allow me to...

I've been looking at the D10 for a bit of time now and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth my purchase. I posted a thread on the Computer Source forums (http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f46/lo...ceiver-442696/) and it seems like something along the lines of the D10 would be my ideal. I plan...

Looking for Advice/Options on PC setup (SoundCard, Headphones, Amp, Receiver)

My source is practically only going to be Foobar2k and a mix of Lossless and VBR MP3's. In regards to the rest of that, I'm just looking for something very versatile, so I'm open to suggestions whether it be an external DAC or internal SC. What are the pros and cons of both? Would using...

Looking for Advice/Options on PC setup (SoundCard, Headphones, Amp, Receiver)

I find myself very much willing to invest into upgrading my current computer setup, but in a more acoustic sense. So where better to ask for advice than the largest money sink in the planet? I'm hoping to spend something along $400, so hopefully that leaves my options fairly open in regards...

    Phonak Audeo?

Out of curiosity, does anyone with glasses wear these? These suckers were already in my cart but then I started considering how comfortable they would be with glasses. I'm currently using sennheiser cx300's and have never really worn any iems that loop over the ear. I'm hoping to see an...

how comfortable are JVC HA-FX55W and Panasonic HJE50?

As of right now my only problem with the Panasonic is the stupidly long cord... I mean it's longer than me for god sakes. The ex51's cord was just right... but the sound wasn't. I guess you can't win them all. :b

Portable phones? What about the Eggos?

Would you guys find the d66's better for use hooked up to a computer over the HD485s? I'm trying to figure out which to get for a dedicated computer headphone and I'm stuck on the two. I really like how the d66's look and am very curious how they feel, but I've heard such great things about the...

how comfortable are JVC HA-FX55W and Panasonic HJE50?

I just bought a pair of white HJE50's today from Circuit City for 32 (couldn't wait for online - sony semi-iems [ex51] broke). The quality looks top notch and it's a bit longer than my sony's with the extension cord. I have to say they're just as comfortable as the sony's, with a lot more...

Glasses Friendly Cans, comfort in mind? < $70 budget

Well I decided to try the ksc-75's and I'm very happy with them for portable use. They really don't interfere with my glasses allt hat much. Now I'm trying to pick either the hd485's or the sony eggos (d66's) for home (computer) use. Edit: And just to add... I LOVE how full these things...

Decision time: HD485's or HD555's? Multi purpose for computer, no amp.

Well I went over to circuit city and bought some KSC-75's and Panasonic HJE50's. I like how the KSC's sound but the ear-clip is hard to get used to for me, same goes for the Panasonics which I'm totally used to... but not fond of having to use the extension cord. And now I'm actually eyeing...
