Advanced (ADV Sound) Model 3s - anyone have theirs break?

So I picked up a set of used Model 3s on eBay back in Jan 2017 because ADV.Sound has been out of stock for several months now.  They've been working great since I received them.   However, not more than 30 min ago, I was sitting on my couch listening to some music via Bluetooth and suddenly my...

Dock connectors don't work in iPhone/iPod Touch?

Do any of the ones from older-gen iPods work with the iPhone? I have a PocketDock and a TURBODock II, both of which I plug into the dock connector to bypass the internal amp and utilize the line out to either my car or Xin headphone amp without the cradle. I've been using these with...

    Monster PowerCenter Line Conditioners

So I picked up a 3600 MKII to demo from a store with a return policy, just to see what type of visual and/or audible improvements (you never know until you try, and I've been aching to try for a while now). My initial impressions are somewhat mixed. On the one hand, I noticed that the bass is...

    Monster PowerCenter Line Conditioners

So I've been thinking about getting a Monster PowerCenter (the HTS 3600 MKII, specifically), and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this unit, or any other similiar unit. I want to improve the audio/video clarity of my system, but I don't know if the benefits of a line...

    Monster Line Conditioners

I'm not sure where to post this, but I figured this would be the best place to do it. I'm considering purchasing a Monster Powercenter (specifically the HTS3600 MKII) and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this unit, or any other line conditioners for that matter. I've heard...

New (To Me) Denon DVM-4800 Has Arrived!

Congrats on the player (and the deal to boot). It has some of the best video resolution and audio capabilities I've heard at its price point. However be weary.... I had mine for about a year without a hitch, and handled it as delicately as possible (I'm VERY anal with my gear). Anyway, one...

    Better seal on the MDR-EX51?

I posted about this before, but here it goes again... The best way to improve the isolation out of the EX51s is to do the reverse Shure mod. Just find some orange foamies for the Shure E2s and shove them on there. You might have to struggle a little bit to fit them around the slightly larger...

Bass - happy medium between Darth 770s and HD650s?

After messing around with the EQ, I've gotta say that the Darth's bass is sounding much, much better - very prominent but controlled, the way I had always hoped they would. I realized that using the SMv3 bass boost switch with already bass-heavy cans was just overkill (please no from...

Bass - happy medium between Darth 770s and HD650s?

Just as the title says, is there a can (open or closed) that combines the positive bass attributes (IMO) of the Darth 770s and the HD650s? I'm finding that when I use the bass boost on my SMv3 with the Darths there is an INSANE amount of bass, but so much so that I believe the vibrations...

First Xbox 360 seen in the wild

Yeah, still got my DC. The VMU was definitely one of the best peripheral ideas ever. Playing NFL 2K(1) on there was amazing since if you were playing a 2-player game, you could choose your plays from the VMU screen on the controller and not give away your playcalls...fantastic idea. Also the...

    SM3 distortion problem...help!

I'd have to agree with the preceeding posts. If there's any distortion, it's most likely due to drained batteries. I experienced the same thing when my batteries died. And remember, those AD797s require the most juice out of all the commonly-used opamps, so 30-36 hrs of use is about right.

Un -mod Ex-71, (eg, replacement / makeshift filter)

I'm not sure whether or not anyone has tried this, but my roommate has a pair of EX71s that I "lost" to him in a poker game . Anyway, he was annoyed that there wasn't sufficient isolation from the soft rubber plugs, so he grabbed a pair of E2 foamies from another one of our friends and shoved...

Amp for Sennheiser Hd 650 - $500 budget

Hmmm...with all of the recommendations for the SR-71 and Gilmore around here, there seems to be very little love for the SM3. So it would seem that the majority of the folks here feel that there isn't synergy in a HD650/SM3 combo??? (I am especially curious since I am now waiting on my SM3...

    DT770s - 80 ohm vs. 250 ohm

Just as the topic of the thread states, Exactly how different in sonic abilities are the Pro and non-Pro versions of the Beyerdynamic DT770's (80 ohm vs 250 ohm)? Also, how much harder is a pair of 250 ohm cans to drive than an 80 ohm?

    SM3 version question

Does anybody know if there is a sonic difference between the two versions of the Supermacro v3 (besides the 4 switches)? What advantages do the 2x buffers (vs 1x buffers), the 4000 uF caps (vs 2000 uF caps), and the 4-layer PCB board (vs 2-layer PCB board) provide to the amp beyond extended...

    Doomed to Mediocrity?

Ok, so as a techno/trancehead, I feel as though I might possibly be limited in terms of SQ based upon the genre of music I prefer. Everyone in this forum talks about source quality (be it SACD, DVD-A, CD stand-alones, or digital lossless encoding off CDs) with their music. However, therein...

    SM-3 Price!?

As a noob (and having recently purchased, but not yet received, an SM3), these new updates between the Std and Lite versions are a little confusing (besides the 4 switches, of course). So what exactly are the advantages beyond extended battery life of having 2x buffers (over 1x), 4000 uF caps...

Sik Din vs. Pocketdock - any SQ differences?

I was looking at the Moon-audio hardwire mod on their website, and it definitely does look interesting (most likely it will a provide a sonic improvement, albeit a subtle one). However, the more I think about it, the more that mod limits your uses for the Pocketdock. For instance, if you...

Sik Din vs. Pocketdock - any SQ differences?

I'm looking to use my Ipod as my portable source, but I haven't yet decided which line-out adapter to get just yet. Anyone have any thoughts (based on comparative experiences) over which adapter is better in terms of SQ: Sik Din or Pocketdock? I would imagine that because the Sik Din uses a...
