Spring VA, DC, MD Macro Meet @ 5/17/2008
*NOTE: First of all, I like to apologize for not communicating with fellow head-fi members regarding the meet. I have been stuck in Manila for extended time trying to wrap-up my business here so I will not have to return (ever) again. In that effort, it consumed all of my time plus had no other...- SK138

Testament and End of Balanced Journey
This is not meant to be a review. It's a journal or testament to my personal search for balanced system. My primary motivation in this journey was to get the best bang for the buck in search for the "right" balanced amp to go with SennHD580 and SennHD650. No doubt, I learned many things...- SK138

Channel Island Audio's "Balanced" VHP2/VAC^2 and Strange Balanced Systems
This all started with successful experimentation with two cMoy (build by blackinches) in a balanced configuration and finding Iron_Dreamer's post: Quote: Originally Posted by Iron_Dreamer He does, it's called two VHP2's. Considering that the VDA2 has RCA output jacks, it's easier...- SK138

Something Old...Something Beautiful...Something Good
This thread is to appreciate those amps that are "old", still beautiful, and still run circles around many new amps. Like most of us in this forum, I have owned and auditioned many headphone amps that came and went over past years, months, even weeks. I thought I was "done" with my system...- SK138

DC/MD/VA Mini-Meet for 10/7/2006@1pm
Sorry for the very short notice. This started when I wanted to get together with slwiser to audition his AT HA5000 amp before I commit to purchasing the amp for myself. I also invited thrice because I was interested in purchasing his Rockhopper M^3 amp. It just happens that between three of us...- SK138

Got the Xin's New SuperMini 3: Wow!!!
I just got the Xin SuperMini3 amp. The moment I plugged it into my iPod to sample some music, I could not believe such a small amp was generating such large sound. I especially like the crossfeed and bass boost. It's something I am not accustom to in my SR-71 or AE-1 (sold to fellow Head-Fi...- SK138

Experiment: Combining Multiple Portable Amps
I just did an experiment with following setup: iPod (No EQ line-out) or PowerMac via (iTune; no EQ) --> Zu mini-RCA cable --> AE-1 amp --> Cardas mini-mini cable --> SR-71 --> 75ohms line adapter --> Shure E4 or Westone UM2. First thing I immediately noticed was greater stereo separation...- SK138
