World First! Massdrop x HiFIMAN Collaboration Announcement
They are okay. I will reserve judgement until they burn in more. They do kind of remind of the Sennheiser HD-700. Sounds good but some tracks the highs are a little bright for my taste. I still prefer the HE-400is over these.- Kimakaze

World First! Massdrop x HiFIMAN Collaboration Announcement
Right now the HE350 has too much treble. The HE-400is are more balanced/neutral. The bass impact is lacking on the HE350 right now. Mids are lacking a bit as well. It really is a little too early for a proper comparison but these are my initial impressions.- Kimakaze

World First! Massdrop x HiFIMAN Collaboration Announcement
Mine just arrived. They seemed bright right out of the box but the highs began to smooth out after about a 1/2 hour of listening. I am curious to see how they sound after 24 hours of burn-in. iPod Classic -> CLAS Solo DB -> RSA SR-71B -> HE350 These are the lightest pair of...- Kimakaze

Philips Fidelio X2?!
My original pair from the Amazon sale or the Amazon Warehouse sale do not bleed ink. I just opened 1 of 2 of my Bass Plus Cushions. I will leave them overnight on some tissue to see if they bleed. The Bass Plus Cushions are also blacker in color whereas both original pads are a 1 to 2 shades...- Kimakaze

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
It's good to hear that you like the combination of the 400i and the Venus Audio cable with the liquid carbon. I just received my cable too. However, I don't see any markings on the headphone connectors to tell which side is left or right. I know it will be easy to determine but both my...- Kimakaze

Woo Audio WA6 + WA6SE: Tubes, Comments, Pictures, and Advice
I think you are referring to PDPS. PDPS - Pseudo-Dual Power Supply upgrade was incorporated into all WA6 amps built 2009 and later. Pre-2009 WA6, it was an option. I suggest you email woo audio with your serial number. They will tell if the PDPS was factory installed.- Kimakaze

Thanks. I just finished cleaning all the tube pins. I swapped the driver tubes. I dried the pins with a cotton swab but will wait another hour before I power it.- Kimakaze

The Woo Audio 2
I can't see to find the answer but I just want to ask the obvious. Looking at the front of the amp, left set of tubes is left channel and right set is right? FYI, I get a hum on the left channel that comes and go if I moving or more precisely the amp jiggles from moving the cable. Amp is...- Kimakaze

Philips Fidelio X2?!
The X2 seems a little hotter in the treble when I run it through my WA6-SE (USAF 596, 6FD7). I am running FLAC files through a Sonos Connnect to a WDS-1. However, the soundstage is wider. The bass is better balanced than running it through my portable setup of an Ipod Classic -> CLAS Solo R...- Kimakaze

Philips Fidelio X2?!
I am only referring to the impact you get from the HE-500. I have modded all three versions. With Jerg's mods on the HE-500, the soundstage is increased. The X2 bass is more bloated than the HE-500. The HE-500's bass is crisper, attacks fast with good decay. I do wish even the modded...- Kimakaze

Philips Fidelio X2?!
Thanks for the input. I just started breaking my pair in. I agree the bass is a little too much for me right now since I listen to mostly EDM. I using an ipod classic to CLAS Solo to ALO Audio RX Mk2. If the bass evens out more, it will be another keeper. I like the fuller sound I get...- Kimakaze

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
The 10% code pushed me over so I ordered mine on Thursday night. It still shows the status as 'processing' for the 400i. It reminds me when I ordered a pair of T1s. It took that company almost 2 weeks to get me a pair to ship due to shortages.- Kimakaze

Philips Fidelio X2 Defects on Amazon
I couldn't find the part number or link to the pads on their website. I read on their support forum to contact the local dealer for pads. Anyone got a link or part number to purchase OEM pads?- Kimakaze

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
The retail price of the HE-400s were $399. My only hesitation about getting the older 400i version is the design change to remove the backplate that covers the driver magnets. I would prefer the older connectors and no backplate. It does not appear that the backplate can be removed from...- Kimakaze

My biggest issue with hums and buzzes is RFI interference. My Sonos connect would cause buzzing or humming when I had it next to my WA6-SE and WA2. My Fostex TH-X00 would pick up noise when I got close to one of my Dell 24 LCD monitors. Relocating the Sonos connect a couple of feet away fixed...- Kimakaze

Philips Fidelio X2 Defects on Amazon
Was looking to see what people's impression of the X2's were. I found this thread so I decided to open my pair from the Amazon deal. Gibson on the box, Woox on the head strap and, no channel imbalance. Since everything seems fine to me, I am not going to bother with trying to get the pads...- Kimakaze

Cavalli Audio Liquid Carbon Now Available
It wasn't just PayPal with problems. I got double charged on my credit card for 1 amp with no confirmation email. Only reason I found out is my credit card sends me an email for charges over a certain amount. Back-Back identical charges can also trigger fraud protection.- Kimakaze

Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread
Well I bought the HD-700s to pair with WA-6SE. It was too bright for my taste with this setup (USAF 596 and 6FD7s). However, I thought it paired better with the WA6 with the same tubes. I think the HD-700s might be the all around headphones I was looking for from Sennheiser. I need to break them...- Kimakaze

I am happy with 6FD7s and USAF 596 in my WA6-SE. All the 6SN7 and 6F8G talk made me think I was too quick to move onto the WA6-SE from the WA6. Fortunately, I was saving the WA6 for my son so I can play with the new combinations. Glenn asked the same question. 'These adapters are for the...- Kimakaze

I have a WE422A, a Marconi U-52 and (7) USAF 596 rectifiers. I also have two Brimars, a Sophia Princess, a Psvane WE274B and Full Music (Sophia Equivalent). I stick mostly to the 596. I was saving the WE422A for WA22 but it does sound so good. Thanks. I will look into the Sylvania 6SN7-WGTAs.- Kimakaze

I am waiting to get my 6F8G adapters from Glenn. Is the NU 6F8G the ones to get? I assume 'NU' is National Union and does not mean NEW or NOS. Any other 6F8G's to consider? Are the Tung Sol's even worth bothering if I get the National Unions? Any suggestions on 6SN7s? I have a set of...- Kimakaze

Have you contacted Glenn about making the adapters? If so, I will drop him a PM to make me a set of 6DE7 -> 6F8G and a set of 6DE7 -> 6SN7 adapters. Glenn made me a couple of 596 adapters last fall.- Kimakaze

Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread
My HD700s will be arriving next week but I total agreement on the HD800s. The incredible soundstage of the HD800s make classical and jazz sound almost speaker like. If you are looking for more of an all around headphone, I would suggest you also demo the HE-560s.- Kimakaze
