By that metric, wouldn't the K701/2 be unequivocally considered one of the best headphones? It seems there is tons of debate about them.

So the K701/2 are great headphones, but not terribly versatile. I guess I'll have to favor versatility at this point.    The DT880 sound like a great pair of flexible headphones, and probably what I'll end up getting.   One last question: Whats the general consensus on Ultrasone...

Does the M Stage make the K701/2 any good for rock and things of the non classical variety?

Sounds like of the Beyerdynamics, the DT880 is the pair to have. Would the LD MkIII be able to competently drive the 600ohm version?   Maybe when I'm back in Austin, I can find a audio store that stocks a good assortment of headphones. It seems like I really need to try the different options...
