Pictures Of Your High End System (Please see the first pages for examples of what should be posted here)
Quote: Hmm. Good question. The speakers are new and still very much in their honeymoon phase. They sound amazing and are so much more visceral than the headphones (perhaps by definition). The DT880s are still better for hyper detail oriented listening, though their sensitivity makes...- wcarpenter

Pictures Of Your High End System (Please see the first pages for examples of what should be posted here)
Quote: No roommate fortunately. I'm a junior (high school, that is) so was able to get a single. I have a music/stereo obsessed floor with no RA, so noise is never an issue. There are some set ups of similar levels. B&W, PS Audio and Rotel all have pretty good showings. Lots of...- wcarpenter

Pictures Of Your High End System (Please see the first pages for examples of what should be posted here)
Here's my high end system of sorts. Living in a dorm room has pretty severely limited me on size. The Omens are a lot of speaker for a room of this variety, but I'm still happy with the sound. Very lively, very big - tons a fun. Perhaps not hifi, but such a blast to listen to that I have a hard...- wcarpenter

Amplifier for bookshelf speakers?
A $1000 dollar amp for $650 speakers isn't so absurd. The 685s supposedly sound amazing for their price, so his money allocation seems fair to me. If you can swing an extra $200, the Peachtree Nova is supposed to be an amazing integrated. It has a tube buffer in the pre-amp to soften and...- wcarpenter

Thanks for the input. I would love to hear the Stingray as it seems like a really neat option. I love the El84 sound in my Miniwatt, so I might like the sound of the Stingray too.- wcarpenter

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones
My dorm mates have all loved my Miniwatt N3 and DT880 combo. "Less bass than my beats", they always say, but a few are coming around. The soundstage is the first thing they comment on. Its a very foreign concept to most headphone owners.- wcarpenter

Best of the Tube Integrateds
I'm in the process of putting together a new system and would love your advice. Due to space constraints, I'm looking for an awesome tube integrated amp. I'm considering the following: Mystere ia21 Leben CS-300(x) Used Mcintosh MA2275 Speakers will either Rega RS5 or Harbeth...- wcarpenter

AKG K242HD VS AKG K272HD VS AKG k 702
I'm new to Head-Fi as well and thought I might share my experiences. I listen to music very similar to yours and have found the Beyerdynamic DT880 to be a great match. I haven't heard the K701/702, but was put off by their bass-lean reputation. I've found the bass performance of the DT880s...- wcarpenter

AKG K701/2 vs. Beyerdynamic DT880
By that metric, wouldn't the K701/2 be unequivocally considered one of the best headphones? It seems there is tons of debate about them.- wcarpenter

AKG K701/2 vs. Beyerdynamic DT880
So the K701/2 are great headphones, but not terribly versatile. I guess I'll have to favor versatility at this point. The DT880 sound like a great pair of flexible headphones, and probably what I'll end up getting. One last question: Whats the general consensus on Ultrasone...- wcarpenter

Thoughts on the Darkvoice 3322?
Hello, I'd love to hear some thoughts on the Darkvoice 3322 paired with the Beyerdynamic DT880s. I listen to alternative and indie rock with some electronic and some occasional rap thrown in. The source would be a computer feeding a DAC (not sure which one yet.) Thanks, Walker- wcarpenter

AKG K701/2 vs. Beyerdynamic DT880
Quote: Why do you think AKG would do that? Seems like a fairly moronic thing to do. Quote: I'm sure it will be! I'm very much looking forward to it. Quote: Are you enjoying this combo? It seems like a great value to me, though I want to make sure I buy...- wcarpenter

AKG K701/2 vs. Beyerdynamic DT880
Thanks guys! It seems that the AKGs might not be the headphones for me. For no logical reason, I really want to want the K701/2, but it makes no sense to buy the headphones because they look so cool. The Beyers might be the best bet. It sounds like they have a nice balance between...- wcarpenter

Do you find the bass at all lacking for rock and things of that variety? Also, would you consider the MKIII an adequate amp for the K702? Walker- wcarpenter

AKG K701/2 vs. Beyerdynamic DT880
Hello! I'm looking for a good pair of headphones to outfit my first serious system. They will most likely be powered by a Little Dot MkIII and the Little Dot DAC, though I've purchased neither and am open to suggestions there too. I listen almost exclusively to rock and some...- wcarpenter

Gear Advice
Sounds like of the Beyerdynamics, the DT880 is the pair to have. Would the LD MkIII be able to competently drive the 600ohm version? Maybe when I'm back in Austin, I can find a audio store that stocks a good assortment of headphones. It seems like I really need to try the different options...- wcarpenter

8 year old looking for $4 Headphones
Maybe as a 16 year old, I can provide some insight. Kids always feel as if their age makes them somewhat exclusive. By adding their age to the thread title, they also feel as if they're adding some sort of insight into what they want and expect a certain level of "awe" for posting in such...- wcarpenter
